As much as I loved my Cayman S, it just wasn't getting very much use. It was sort of stuck in the middle between the Jetta and Ridgeline for family hauling, and the Miata for track duty.

One evening a week or two ago, I was just browsing EBay for interesting cars, and found one that looked like a worthy replacement. It just happened to be in Austin, and though I expected it to be a long shot, I sent an email to inquire if the seller would be interested in working a trade. I was surprised that he was, and now we both have vehicles that better suit our respective needs. :rockout:

I can't imagine a 4 door sedan being any more fun than this!

Congrats, Chris.

Moira, the original owner's name is Varun - he also has a BMW motorcycle, one of the I4 ones.

I'll post more M3 pics when I have a chance to take some - weather is crappy last couple of days in Austin. Loads of Cayman pics @ http://www.flickr.com/photos/9071692@N02/sets/72157603562477771/ and http://www.flickr.com/photos/9071692@N02/sets/72157611382833180/

shmike, we're keeping the Jetta, which is my wife's DD. She works downtown (45+ min. commute one way), and the M3 slurps gas like a wino w/ a bottle of MD20-20. It'll mostly be used for fun drives.

t-rock, check out the S8's weight: 4586 lbs.!!!

God I hope he gave you like 20k as well...you sold a Porshce for the peoples lease car? wtf. LOL

And how many kids do you have, 3? Cause you could have easily put a kid in the back of the Cayman....i've see Mexicans stick 4 kids in the back of a coupe all the time.

For being in the industry you don't have a clue.

1: The People's car is Volkswagen (literal translation). Volkswagen was founded by Ferdinand Porsche.

2. There is no "back" of the Cayman. It is a two-seater. Mid engine. Unless the kid is sitting atop the engine hump or in the "trunk area" there's nothing.

Up until about age 6 I was sitting on top of the engine compartment in a VW Beetle. My older sisters took the back seat.

Maybe you should test drive an M3 if you ever manage to extract your head from your ass!

I'm talking about LEASE cars, not the people's car VW (which I knew before you were born LOL). BMWs are known to be leased.

OK..put the kid in the Ridgeline. I swear people just make every little excuse on the net to change cars. Just do it, why give any explaination?

I did in fact around GM's test track. The electronic throttle sucked, but the front end was nice. Still looks like a 328i though meh.

Sorry, I didn't ask for advice on how to get my kid around, I've been using the Ridgeline for a year now. Lease car? Maybe that applies to BMW's in general, but BMW doesn't provide lease subsidization on the M's. I own mine free and clear.

Sorry if you didn't like my "excuse" to trade cars. I'm a car/motorcycle trading addict, and have a reason for every trade...though some admittedly may have been pretty weak.

My point is that you don't have to give reason why you change cars/bikes. Its your money, do what you want with it. Unlike Liberals here, I belive the money u make you should keep. :rockout:

And the M3 is nice btw...

For those who wanted to see more pics of the M3, I finally had a chance to go take a few this weekend. So far it's everything I could have expected and more.

Nice BMW

101...if it makes you feel better.
I got the joke right from the start.

I actually know a person who purchased a new BMW...paid cash. Older white guy. He'll probably put 3000 miles a year on it until they take away his license or he gives it to one of his boys

Other than that. I know of no one who has purchased a new BMW. Used...yes.
But new? Nope...
