Just sharing because I am proud I have reached a little milestone. Since I started riding I have been working my way up to this road. Riding has obviously been an addiction for me for a while but now I am addicted to this stretch of highway. Yesterday was my second time on this road and aside from being SUPER cold (for me anyway :)) it was a great day.

I posted these pictures in the POTM thread but I did not want to hijack that thread with discussion. :beers:

...Since I started riding I have been working my way up to this road...

Curvy and steep, my favorites. What was the hardest thing that kept you away from this terrific road? The distance from home, the curves, the steepness, or those car and motorcycle idiots?

On my local twisty road, I met some young riders at the top of the mountain. They both had come up the mountain on very fast bikes, but were afraid to go down the steep, twisty road. Instead, they went west and took the Interstate down.

It is about 45 miles on the freeway just to get there. I did not go on the freeway until a few months ago so I was still getting comfortable with that. Plus the distance. Last time we went it was about 150 miles...up until then my longest ride had only been about 80 miles. I take the slow and steady approach to learning. :beers:

This road is GOLD. We went yesterday (Saturday afternoon) and even though the freeway was pretty packed we only let four bikes (2 groups of two) pass up going the same direction as us. That was it! For about 40 miles on the beautiful road. Last time we went there were more bikes but still not bad...plus NO cops! :rockwoot: There is a sign at the bottom that says END 40 MPH...and that's it. There are speed limit signs leading into the really tight turns but no where else. Pure heaven.

I did not really get to work on it this weekend...on Thursday I took my usual work-out class but instead of the regular teacher there was a sub and she KICKED MY BUTT! :panic: My thighs were (and still are :panic:) so sore I could not really stand up on my toes on the pegs to slide my butt...I did my best but there was less movement than usual.

I am applying to Customs and Border Patrol, if I get hired I'll probably end up in San Diego, my first choice is so cal because of the roads, weather and diving, second choice is texas gulf coast, so we'll see.

Nor cal has AMAZING roads... And much less traffic. I wouldn't mind being stationed at beale again

Nothing wrong with this. I was kind of slow at it too.

Beautiful road and area out there.

We have some decent roads in OH, but most are chewed up from Amish buggy and covered in road apples.

The problem with Nor Cal is they have this thing called WINTER! Snow FTL! I'd rather have good roads, 12-month riding weather, and be close to Baja, great off-roading, camping, fishing, and diving down there.

Yep, I lived in Akron for a while with nothing but the bike, there are some nice roads in OH (especially Southern OH, my grandfather lives in Monroe County, Woodsfield) but they're not always in the best shape.

ehh depends on where you go. I lived in Marysville... about 45 mins north of Sac... all we got was Rain... now if you went into the mountains... yeah they got snow... but never got anything more than rain at my place...

I'll check it out, the other issue is that if I am in California I will be in extreme southern california, working for CBP I have to be on a border. I'll check out Nor Cal, and I hear the coast roads in Oregon are amazing, but that'll be on vacation.
