I like the Dollar per HP figure...That really makes some striking observations. One thought is that if your going to buy a sports car on that basis, then you might as well go for the upscale/uprated version as the price diff is neglible to performance gains. In some instances you get a better deal to go big. Insurance quotes aside.

But it also has almost 200 fewer hp.

Yup. 6 speed available in either the SRT8 or the R/T with the Hemi.

Still looks like the bast bargain in the 370Z as far as hp/weight ratio AND over all $/HP.

Camaro 3800 lbs? Challenger, 4100 lbs? Lol, those weights are ridiculous, I wouldn't be surprised if that's the heaviest they've ever been in history.

As for top speed it's meaningless, as some cars have limiters and some don't.

0-60 is meaningless as well, as some cars require 2 shifts before they hit 60 while another car might only need 1 shift. So it's not a fair comparison. The quarter mile is a much better statistic.

1970 challenger weighed in at about 3860 with the high specs being with the 426 HEMI @ 425 hp and 480 ft/lbs.
So yeah, that was lighter, but I bet the new one is still faster, and definatly handles better.

Nah, I don't think it weighed that much, My buddy had a 340 cuda that weighed in around 3200#'s. And I could see a Hemi weighing 200-300 more than a 340, but not 600 more.

My 83 Firebird Title claims 3300lbs. I weighed after I rebuilt it and it showed an actual 2985. We used to race these F Body chassis in dirt rack and we had one "ultralight" fully caged and ready to do 15 laps that would scale in at 2650 driver included!

I think a clever person could drop some weight from any of these new cars what with all the catalytic converters and whatnot, but really what is the point? Want to make something that is superlight and bad ass cause you take it to the road course? Want to make your self squirrely loose in the rain?

Doesn't the Hyundai 3.8 compete more with the base model Camaro vs SS? It's closer to the price of the entry model vs V8 car
