Just picked up my new toy, dont know wether I will race or restore it. 85 Mustang GT, last of the carb cars and factory headers, has a .030 over 302 and 5 speed, the suspension is still tight but it needs a few cosmetic touch ups and the interior redone...this thing is quick, fast and fun.

Nice grab. Those are great cars when it comes to cheap speed.

Cool.
A friend of mine, years back, had a late 80's or early 90's LX Mustang set up for autocross.
That car was a trip to ride in. :tremble:

Five O Slow...

It beat the F-body of the same model year...

It doesn't beat the 350 in the Camaro...I've raced many a 5.0 and they always lost.

Now a 305 Camaro..yes = dusted.

The same 350 that you could only get an automatic in? Lol........

Pretty easy for an automatic driver to beat a stick driver, if the stick driver didn't know you wanted to race and wasn't prepared for it. But at the track it might have been a different story.

Automatics are usually raced because of consistency...and the newer ones have less friction then a manual.

sweet car, by race do you mean drag or road course.

I'd drag it. Keep it just barely street legal

I miss my 92 LX.

I also had a 92 LX...fun car and inexpensive to modify. I bought it stock and turned it into a beast and had a blast in that car.

I have a friend that road races an almost stock Evo at VMP and he is trying to convince me to run with him, but I want to be able to drag, cruise and hit the twistys. I talked to the guy that had the engine rebuilt and he is getting me a list of mods and upgrades, seems its not a bore clean up rebuild (cam and lifters, roller rockers, aftermarket headers and gears are what he hinted at). I sorta want to keep that 80's kinda flavor. I ordered a shock tower brace, poly bushings and subframe connectors. gonna tear the interior out this weekend and paint the interior panels and source some seats from the local pick and pull. Gonna have a guy at work fab up a cold air intake for it, barter for some extra bike parts and a bar(the drinking kind...)mirror.
