Hey are you guys aware of the little sliding switch on the side of a laptop that turns your wireless on and off........well I am NOW!!!! I was just getting ready to call Punjab at Dell when I figured it out! What a dumbass I am! I get up to take a piss and I come back and my laptop won't connect to my network?!? I fiddled for at least 15 min before I stumbled onto the switch!!! Hee HAW,Heee HAWWWW!!!!

i wasn't aware, and i have a dell laptop as well. i also sometimes have network issues myself. i'm gonna hafta take a look later.

I have a Dell and I don't know where to turn mine on and off, it's just on all the time. Its an Inspiron 1720. :idk: As long as I see the blue light on, I'm happy.

its there so that when they say on flights "You may use approved electronic devices if the wireless feature has been switched OFF", you can just hit the switch instead of having to dig into some settings.

yea. that switch exists... for no god damn reason, im assuming.

It exists if you want to use LAN only.. Also if you're battery is low and your on wire it will use less juice..

Good feature IMO.. People need to just look sometimes.. :idk:

Edit - I get calls a lot about the same thing at work.

It's on the left side towards the front. I have the same laptop except it's the XPS version.

They made the air so small, they took all the good shit out of it. Get a regular sized one and you'll have exponentially better computing power.

both my old Viao and my Tosh have it... I use it when ever I leave my computer... that way no one can access my shit if they hack in... :lol: my old roommate hacked my fuck'n computer... ever since then... I'm extra carefull...

Well I fel alittle better mine doesn't have that.Just a "O >>" kinda thing below the switch. The "O" is off and the ">>" is on. It's right next to the card slot. There's a little led that has an antenae looking symbol by it. I imagine this only comes on when using an outboard/add on wifi card. Who knows?:idk:

it was pretty funny... I don't keep anything of real value on my computer... they're all on external drives... and I keep them unplugged unless i'm using them
