Lets assume both cost about the same.

2005 C55 AMG (15K miles) or 2007 BMW 335 Sedan (6 Speed) (35K miles)?

Id go with the c55 just because its an amg.

neither because IMO they're both overpriced cars no matter how you look at em. sorry but I dont like german cars at all.

Agreed.

AMG vs. M3 would be a tougher decision.

Like to like, I still prefer the Benz.

The BMW, because:
1) it's still under warranty
2) it's a stick shift
3) bmw's usually steer & handle better than mercedes
4) the 335 twin-turbo has nearly all the performance of the M3 anyway

For sure. That's what I'm leaning towards. The C55 is much more rare and it does come with a monster V8, but something about just doesn't seem right. It went to the dealer for an electrical problem with 5K on the odometer and it's had 3 owners since. :idk: Checks out in Carfax but there's still gaps in the history.

On top of that, I've always thought bmw's were some of the best "driving" cars. Had a 97 328i back in the days and had my brothers e46 m3 for a few months, real fun to drive.

PS. BobTheBiker...You're missing out!

I get plenty of wrench time on my ZX10, I dont need a german car to soak up more time/money I cant spend.

You're saying you would pick an E46 M3 over the C55, right? That means you would pick the E46 M3 over the 335?

Or are you talking about the E90 M3, in which case...yeah...it's a no brainer.

Yes and yes. The e46 m3 is one of my favorite possibly attainable cars ever.

Is the MB a 2 door? Too lazy to look it up.

I'd take the MB. Everybody and their mother has 335 or a lookalike.

If one is an auto and the other is a manual that would be my deciding factor right there...I have never owned and never plan on owning an auto.

BMW..

2005 MB new were all over the place quality wise and a 4 year old AMG might turn into an expensive headache REALLY quick.

Considering all the german autos use the same suppliers I would say buy whatever you like better. I'd get the manual though.

suppliers ok.. (don't believe it but what ever) but that doesn't necessarily make the cars the same... IIRC AMG's are hand built motors...

4 years old, and only 15k miles after 4 owners? I would RUN the fuck away from that :panic:

Probably just treated as a status symbol among wannabe-pimps.......not for any serious driving.

Thanks, most of you backed up what I was thinking.
The C55 sounded good but it had red flags all over it. Not to mention it was automatic. :panic:

I've driven lots of cars, and to me, bimmers are some of the best "driving" cars made.

Here's a pic of my e36 before I sold it...it had 135K miles.

Between the 2, I'd go with the 335. But for the same money I could find something better.

BMWs also have the best seats.

I would say Volvo does. BMWs are hard and unless your body is mushy, it makes you conform to the seat vs. the seat conforming to me. Most seats bother me except truck seats.

I like hard seats on both cars and bikes, I don't know why. I think because I don't like the material bunching up against my taint, lol
