well i check the weather report everyday in hopes it changes from 39 to 70 or something but the latest said 39 and partly sunny saturday and 45 and mostly sunny sunday.. we went last year and it snowed like 4" so didn't even take the bike off the trailer.. two years ago it was 37 and cloudy.. it was cold in the paddock but it was fine on the track with some long johns and several layers.. working hard out there anyways so cold wasn't an issue as long as it is dry.. the people setting it up, in their infinite wisdom for whatever reason, pushed it back into march for some reason.. maybe it was due to track schedule or something.. who knows.. if they were from los angeles or something i could understand maybe they don't know the weather this time of year but they are from chicago?? well i will be there and hoping for dry if nothing else.. also interested in checking out the repaved section of grattan..

well now it says dry both days and 39 on saturday and 44 on sunday. so it should be just about as good as it could get for this time of year. of course it said 41 today and snow and it was actually 47 and sunny. so who knows..

weather report is 46 and warmer for saturday now and 46 and icy / snowy mix early on sunday.. i will take it less the icy / snowy clipper bullshit..

i picked up AFAM sprockets and DID chain for the 520 conversion - going to do it tonight.. ready to rock with my cock out..

and that's why its only $30 - cheap track day and when you are a crackhead track addict you take anything - cheap dirty nasty disease ridden snow filled rain covered.. whatever.. just wave the fucking green flag and move out of the way..

I'd love to hit up a track day... I'd be down to go...

my point was more from the organizers standpoint... do they really expect to get a good turn out and good weather? that's quite a gamble I'd think... :idk:

No, it's because they can rent the track out for cheap as fuck because its not actually even their open season yet. Thats why they can charge $30 for a race school/track day. Weather is usually rideable, and turnout is always pretty good.

79 people including me although i am yet to be listed so either my entry was lost in the mail or they missed putting me on the list - hoping for the later.. guess i will find out saturday because their website hasn't been updated since 2002 and they update the pre-entry list about as often.. but here is the list - quite a few people signed up - about as many as say a july trackday.. when it started out a few years ago you might see 20-30 bikes there.. it gets bigger, and more expensive, every year.. if i remember right it used to be $10-$15.. sunday is test & tune that is 2 groups - numbers and no numbers that is 2 groups for $60 - really that is the better day.. here is the pre-entry list:

Two inches of snow on the ground this morning. Should be melted by the end of the day though.

Turned out pretty good this weekend - got about 30 laps in.. it turned out 37 and sunny on saturday.. not an optimum day but could have been alot worse.. tires never got heated up though so probably were (never checked) turning 2:00-2:30 laptimes.. nothing spectacular.. did get to test the new chain and sprockets and scrub the new pilot powers in.. chain and sprockets are kick ass.. lot better power range and right now..

the 2000 yamaha r6 came with a stock 532 chain - and like you said liter bikes come with a 530 so why the fuck would yamaha put a 532 on a 600cc bike i have no idea.. feels ALOT better with the 520..

I thought about going 520 on mine...but I can't find different gearing for the 520 sprockets. So I'd rather keep the 530 and change the gearing on the Old ZUk.

I say just change out the old Zuke...

Don't have to worry about gearing or sprockets on the 1125

well i know 532 to 520 was a big change for me on the r6.. i kept stock gearing because i didn't want to lose any top end and didn't really think the trade off to get minimal acceleration gain was really worth it.. now that i know what's involved in the change and the time it takes i might try -1 in front if i ever feel like fucking with it. I have other shit to do to the bike and I am happy with it for now.
