Actually,there's a lot of guys here who could help me un-learn some of the bad habits I've accumulated over the years. I spent a couple years trying to muscle a RZ350 around the track and then I spent 5 years forcing a V-Max through corners trying to keep up with my buddies on crotch rockets before I got one. Unfortunately,I STILL have the techniques I used to do those things embedded in my psyche and I have a hard time letting them go.

Yamerhaw could be my pick as well, and he's just a few hours away. My parents don't live too far from Tigger so the next time I visit them and have some time I'll try to hook up with Tigger I certainly fall into that have nothing to prove category, I have the wife and three kids to come home to (well for that matter the wife is usually a few paces behind me to keep my in check on most rides anyway).

Well, you want to sink when you dive, so you should be good! :lol:

If your swimming problem is related to floating, then it shouldn't be an insurmountable problem, however, being comfortable in the water is a big part of diving. If you're comfortable in the water then it should be OK, if you are very uncomfortable in the water then it might be a problem.

I love the water, i just have a fear of drowning, which i think is reasonable. I'm such a bad swimmer though, i expend a whole bunch of energy doing a whole bunch of nothing trying to float that i just wear myself out so unless i can touch the ground, i stay out of the deep end. I love the water, i just have a fear of drowning, which i think is reasonable. I'm such a bad swimmer though, i expend a whole bunch of energy doing a whole bunch of nothing trying to float that i just wear myself out so unless i can touch the ground, i stay out of the deep end. Swimming is a requisite to pass the scuba course. They make you swim approximately 200-yards or so.

However, in real life, you really don't need to know how to swim or even swim that well. There's a thing called a buoyancy control device (BCD) that keeps you afloat when you're on the surface and helps you maintain a certain depth when you're underwater.

And if you dive in cold water like California or places where it's cool enough to wear a wetsuit or a drysuit, you ain't sinkin' at all. These suits will float you like a cork.

It's highly advisable to take a course but there's no laws against it. Although I don't know of too many dive shops that would rent you gears without a certification, or too many people would let you tag along without a dive cert.

Well, depends. You can take a course call Discover Scuba Diving which is an introduction to scuba with a divemaster or instructor, it's not a full course, you basically "tag along" with the DM, as a Divemaster I can teach those.

As for "tagging along" with just a regular diver, it's up to you and to them, but I HIGHLY advise against it. Diving is an extremely safe sport when it's done properly, but it can only be done properly with the right training or direct supervision. Without that it can be very dangerous, so if I were you I wouldn't try tagging along with just anybody.

If you want to try it check out some local Dive shops and see if they offer a DSD program, they're usually not very expensive, $100 or so, and it includes all your gear rentals and access to the pool or dive site.

It's been redone recently, so road is a little better. There are way too many side roads though, until you get to ozark state park. I love dlits video because almost all of the corners here are blind, and i hate that.

Been there three times and LVMS four times. I'm waiting until I can afford good race bodywork for my bike, and then I'll be heading to Pahrump soon after. I miss the technical stuff and elevation changes there. LVMS is flat, mostly.
