So the local Victory-Big Dog dealer had Victory demo days this weekend. I was out of town yesterday when the weather was 70 and nice. Went today with a guy from the local board when the weather was 45 and windy, with slight rain.

I rode the Hammer with a performance exhaust first. Absolute blast. Much more fun than I was expecting. The first time putting your feet on forward controls feels weird as shit, but after a few blocks, making it to a twisty road, it was natural and very comfortable. Tons of power on that bike, but it was weird shifting that much with the v-twin in it. Back end slid out on me one time taking off from a stop sign turning right. Once we hit the twisties, the first curve felt awkward, but again, after that it was very natural feeling. Drug the pegs twice so that was pretty fun. I didn't feel bad since the head rider drug the exhaust on the vision a few times. All in all, it was a great ride, and much more enjoyable than I was expecting. I can see myself having one as a second bike in the future.

Since my friend and I are also good friends with the guy leading the rides, we got to take two rides one after the other. The second bike that I rode was a completely stock Vegas. Not nearly as much fun as the Hammer. Not tons less power, but there was no tach and the exhaust was quiet. I was also behind a guy on a kingpin with downturn, loud ass exhaust. Hit the rev limiter once in first when first getting onto the highway. Still not a bad bike by any means, but didn't measure up to my first ride.

Overall, the cruiser feel is actually pretty nice. Very comfortable and relaxing, but wouldn't have one as my only bike till I get old as shit. They do test rides pretty much whenever you go in, so we are planning on going back in a few weeks with nicer weather to test in. I kind of want to ride the Vision. Yes, its a huge ass touring bike that is ugly as sin, but everyone who rode one today said they loved it.

I have an 01 Victory and My wife has the 03 TC Victory ( we have tweaked both) they are great bikes! I helped a friend buy a hammer a few years ago he loves his, I don't ever see my self selling my Victory but if I do the next heavy cruiser I own will be a Victory as well.
I have tried a Vision and it is very nice . but frankly it has a ways to go before I would consider trading my 06 Goldwing for one.

I like the Hammer. It looks killer. I am really starting to think my time on sportbikes is about up. A half hour ride yesterday and my back was fucking killing me. Same thing on the half hour ride home. I might be trading the Buell in in the near future.

The wife and I would love to add two "cruisers" to our stable and may in time.

We participated in a Victory Demo ride as well. I rode the Victory Vegas Jackpost and liked it alot.

My wife flat out fell in love with the Victory Kingpin 8-Ball and I'm pretty sure if she gets a cruiser that this will be the one.

I also rode and liked the Star Raider...which they also had demo rides for.

I haven't ruled out a V-Rod either.

The kingpin 8-ball is what my friend rode second. Same thing, loved it. This guy also has a mid 70s Honda 350, 250cc 2 stroke, late 80s bandit, and generally bikes other people don't own.

The Star Raider looks cool. That Kingpin 8-Ball would be much cooler it the fenders were half that size.

Yeah I liked the Raider pretty much and was surprised it was a Yamaha....well I mean the bike itself. I knew Yamaha made Star.

On the 8-ball I agree with you too. They have a Jackpot 8-ball too and I like it better.

This bike here but with the black pipes instead of the chrome...

The wife could probably picture herself doing this very same thing if she had the Kingpin 8-ball.

Victory makes a real nice bike. Plus they are american made!!! You should take one of those over the Yam everyday of the week. I have rode a Vegas and another one... they were good.

Here are a few pictures of the bikes there. Taken by a local board member, and now our newest member, Berserker.

I liked the vegas apart from not having a tach and quiet exhaust. 1st gear tops out at 41-43 though, figured that much out. If I were more used to the v-twin and having to shift that often, it wouldn't be as big of a deal though.

Outdated over priced ancient technology.

I don't know why anybody would buy one of these when Honda sells perfectly capable cruisers...

There, that's my fake Harley rant.

He had already put on an aftermarket exhaust when I rode it. As for the tach, nice to have, but I just listened to the engine for shift points. Never did hit the limiter, but I surely did exceed the speed limit!

I did hit the limiter when I first rode one and thought WTF but after realizing what I had done...it didn't happen anymore.

I had just gotten off of a TurboBusa after riding it for a couple of hours so it was quite a different experience.

For a cruiser I did like the Victory though.
