So, I haven't listened to country music since(IMO) it stopped being country and started being twangy pop music.(Shania Twain, Rascal Flatts...those kinds of crackers).

Last night we were flipping through channels and saw Reba singing, so we stopped: Country Music Awards. Okay...nothing else is on. Can it really be that bad?

I cannot express how angry I was that twice, TWICE (while I was watching) George Strait was beat for an award by some teenage looking blonde girls. :panic:

Now I remember why I don't listen to that shit anymore.

I'm going to buy some George Strait music now....

Sorry, its better than "I hate you all, I'm going to rip your heads off while I scream unbearably," music. Also, the small town thing might have something to do with it.

There is probably some truth to that. I grew up in LA and I didn't know anyone that listened to country.

Same reason Lady Gaga is the shit right now. People like young, hot performers. Talent is basically a non-issue.

Come to think of it though, at least Gaga has more talent than Montana, Spears or Simpson.

Yeah, my town was 11K people and pretty much everyone listened to it.

I love just about all music including country. But I hate modern pop country. However I have noticed a rise in small country/rock performers becoming more mainstream. Which is good.

I was never a fan of Taylor Swift because I thought she was just some pretty country Britney Spears. Then I looked into her songs and saw that she can play an instrument and she writes most of her songs about stuff that means something to her. Then I respected her and listen to some of her stuff.

I like more of the pop/country. However, my main two music choices are hip-hop and country. Odd mix, I know.

I went through a brief country music phase, but only because I was trying to fit in and pretend to be someone I'm not.

T-Rock, u can't catch a break aroud here can u?

I still like some of the new country but not as much as the stuff in the 80's. Hank Jr, Waylon, Alabama, Reba, all good stuff.

One sorta new group I really like is Little Big Town. They don't really sound "country" but I love their hamonies and instrumentals and the fact that all 4 of them play, sing and take turns w/ lead on their songs. "The Road to Here" is a great album IMO but I do listen to lots of different music as long as it's NOT rap.

#1. No, I can't.

#2. I'm not a big fan of Little Big Town. Boondocks was good, but that's about all I like from them.

 Dude, I am really bored today and I am just trying to start shit. ;)

I think that I am in a small niche of people who loved country in the 90s. It seems most everyone else likes 80s or the new stuff.

Being from Strait country(San Antonio) I just got very angry that he was dissed like that. If he hadn't been in those categories, I wouldn't care one iota. But alas....I am a George fan and that pissed me off.

I like country... I grew up listening to it... I can't listen to all of it... but I do like alot.

I think Taylor Swift is an amazing tallent... I don't like all her songs... but the fact that she writes ALL of them is impressive... especially with how many hits she's had.

Don't start too much shit, someone might break your leg...wait, never mind

I like George Strait too, went and saw him in concert around 93 I think it was, just didn't mention him cause you already had. I had actually forgotten about the concert till now, went with my (now ex) wife, i was so tired from the shifts I was working then I could barely stay awake during the concert, but George was good.

Y'all try growing up in the music city... I hated country until I got older (mid 20s) and listened to hard-core rap as a teen in the 80s (sir-mix-a-lot, two live crew, ect)...thank GOD I got over that crap! As I've gotten older I've broadened my horizons and now listen to a miriad of styles of music...I love country (old and new), classic rock (80s and 90s) and a lot of the newer "indie rock". I love Train, Shinedown, Foo Fighters and Audioslave. I still like classical once in awhile when the mood hits like Beethoven and Bach. Guess I'm a musical mutt.

And she's fucking hot.

I wish I knew what school she went too. She's hot, talented, and seems pretty laid back and cool. Yet all of her songs are about guys who cheated on her or ignored her. So that must mean their is some awesome tail at her hometown.

Amen! That is one thing that would be interesting to see/hear on American Idol, someone that has actually written one of their own songs and then perform it.

My all time favorite is the Charlie Daniels Band - The Devil Went Down to Georgia!

Country fan here: just about all i listen to, but i live in the "country" so it just fits me, i like the old, new, pretty much all of it, except kenny chesney; his crap is too much like Jimmy Buffet which also sucks...i just dont "get" rap, thrash, classical, blues, boy bands, girl bands, gay ass hippie bands, etc

like a little bluegrass, mainly cause i know a lot of people involved in it, one of my best friends that rides with me is a national champion banjo player and placed in the top 5 in guitar, now finishing up a cd he's been working on, a neighbor is in a group called "The Hackensaw Boys" they have several cd's out.. my fiance's uncle was a big deal in the blue grass scene before he passed away(also a national champion)..

famous guitar maker, Wayne Henderson, lives about 20 mins from here, even made one for Eric Clapton, a guy i know just sold one for $12,000 so i guess they're pretty good

i got off track a little, anyway, i like country music

Been listening to Jamey Johnson lately and getting into a little more older country...Jennings, Nelson, Cash and Jones. I alternate between Rock, Metal, hip-hop, country and classical...depends on the mood and what I am doing.
