I just bought a new Icon jacket at Iron Pony here in Columbus. It was on sale for $100. I thought I was a good deal. I went riding the other day and no joke I had 3 or 4 people call me a penis. I guess I was called that word because my jacket, gloves, helmet, and my bike match. I don’t know. Can anyone tell me way we are looked down upon by others just because I wear gear that matches my bike?

i was matching sunday, and everybody gave me hell over it...but looking back they matched too, i think it was because i'm usually wearing one of the helmets that dont match anything but sunday i was

Honestly I've never owned any piece of Icon gear, but I know people who do and when they've gone down the protection was adequate. Yea fuck those cock suckers! It's unbelievable the lengths people will go to just to insult each other! At least you were wearing gear. As far as reputation goes,Alpinestars was the first company I know of to produce "stunting gear" and also the first to sponsor stunters. I've gone down a few times in Icon gear and it has held up wonderfully! Quite frankly,I have a Dainese jacket that fell apart when I got in a crash about ten years ago. Shit,my Joe Rocket jacket feels like a sweatshirt compared to my Icon jackets.

I'm not a fan of Icon. I do, however, own a pair of their gloves. The fit isn't great. But I crashed in them and they held up spectacularly. No busted seems, leather didn't wear through. And the carbon knuckle did what it should do.

honestly I think it's their way of saying they are too insecure to have their stuff match their bike. They were afraid people would tease them or whatever so now they comment on people who buy matching gear.

I used to match stuff up when possible. Now days though after too many bikes/jackets/helmets and what not. I have a black bike, yellow jacket, and red helmet. I may have to do some shopping this year. LOL

Good job wearing your gear when you ride! Don't let those idiots bug you. Generally people make fun of people who's gear matches because it can be a sign of a new rider who went out and bought everything at the same time, because most riders start that way then upgrade or change their gear over time, and then it doesn't quite match anymore. Either that or they're too broke-dick to afford nice new gear and they make do with what they've got, and give you shit for it. Either way you shouldn't sweat it, nothing wrong with being a new rider (we all were at one time) and nothing wrong with looking good on a bike.
