I need a new phone, but theres so much shit to siphon through out there i dont even know where to start. i had verizon, and am not going back to them. we didnt end our relationship on the best of terms. I owe them money and since they are jerks i'm paying it off pennies at a time.
So anyways, i need some help. i dont need an Iphone w/ 3g package and satalite uplinks and infrared scanners or anything, just need something to talk on and text on. i loved my old phone cause it had a 3mp camera, but i can honestly do without.
would like to keep the plan around 50-60 bucks. only need around 400 minutes (w/ unl nights and weekends) and unlimited texts. I've done some shopping and cant really find anything i love, so i was curious what some of you are using and whether you'd suggest it.

I don't text so I can't help you there but AT&T plans are reasonable and I am switching to them from Verizon.
So Rider why are you leaving Verizon? I have Nextel and plan on changing once my phone wears out - whenever that occurs.

For the same plan AT&T is cheaper and I get a bigger corporate discount with AT&T. It will be also be easier to have one big bill when my neighborhood gets U-Verse next month. I also don't like the phone selection that Verizon has.

Why does T-Mobile suck? Anyway,I have the Motorola Motozine 5 meg camera phone and it works great for me. I pay $49.99 for 1000 anytime, unlimited nights and weekends and $4.99 for 400 texts. Plus I got the phone for free when I got it. I think it's $99 now. If you want touch screen there's always the Samsung Behold. I haven't had any coverage problems and T-Mobile is new to this market as of last Nov. Although I will say for the record, that the market you're in makes a huge difference as to which carrier is the best.

I have an iPhone and my last phone was the HTC Tilt, but I had the Motorola SLVR before. I never had any problems with it, but I've heard people complain that they're not very good phones (more specifically the RAZRs). Maybe mine lasted even with all the abuse because I bought it in Germany.. but it was an awesome phone, worked great for text, and had a decent camera. Hell, I still have it somewhere.. I would give it to ya, but it's an unlocked phone.. I think I might just keep it for that reason alone.
I have AT&T right now, and haven't had any problems.. I have the 500 min per mo./unl nights and weekends plan, plus unlimited texting and unlimited data.. plus an extra line (for my mom), so my total plan is usually about $100 a month (so I think, IIRC, the basic plan is just $40/mo) before taxes.

My SLVR was great. I still have it but I wanted a cool touchscreen. I have the Samsung Infinity now and it kicks ass. I'm posting on it right now!

I have a 3 year old moto SLVR. It's been underwater for more than 15 seconds at a time, three different times. Phone is a beast, but I think its days are coming to an end.
Get a blackberry.
I just got a curve a week ago. I didnt know before then that I couldnt live without one. I mean that. Its the most useful piece of electronics i've ever had, that just also happens to be a phone.

I had tmobile for a while and hated it. It dropped calls all the time and the coverage wasnt very good in this area. I dont really have any suggestions since I have verizon and like it, but Id avoid tmobile.

Lmao, i actually own a cell phone that IS a flask. used it for a wedding i went to last summer. thing only held like 6 or 7 oz so i had to make frequent "bathroom trips" during the 2 hour ceremony. was a real hill jack wedding, only had busch lite on tap at the reception, i didnt know a single person there.

I just didnt like any of their phones. Honestly i made my selection based purely on the presentation of the merchandise, and the ease of use of the website. i got the one i link'd to up there. should get it thursday afternoon.
Send me ur numbers people.

its also my NEXT phone too. I'm rockin a nokia 5310 on tmobile right now, and it kinda sucks, although you can talk/text on it, the sidekick is way easier.
DONT go to sprint/nextel. I"ve had nothing but horror stories with them and the SHIT they offer for phones.

Here, ATT will let you keep your number if you are in the same town or something like that.

I got a Samsung Rugby from AT&T... Mil-spec ruggedized, no frou-frou shit. But if you txt, it only has a phone keypad.
Also, i recommend letstalk.com for buying new plans/phones... I did a lot of comparison-shopping when I got my plan, and they beat everyone else (they were actually providing the shopping cart back-end for Walmart.com and Nokia, but it's cheaper if you go to their main site)
