[Method]

Just picked one up yesterday - Nice little device. I decided to wait until they put out some additional software revisions and the appstore before buying it and it seems to be well worth the wait (At least with the software revisions).

Anyone else have one? If so, anything I should be on the watch for?

Also, are there any good programs in the appstore? So far from what I've seen I've been fairly disappointed.

Trip's covered the good stuff. I have one too. I have Weatherbug, Slacker, Flycast, Facebook, Myspace, Twitterberry, Flickr, Google Maps, and a few themes on mine. Crackberry has pretty much been the source of most of the themes I'm using, though themes4bb.com, blueroomsolution.com, and blackberrythemepark.com all have a nice little selection as well. I'm on .113, though there are some people who are having problems with it, so .109 might be the more stable beta to go for.

Also, what's the difference between the stock OS and .109? Stability? Speed? Features?

if you just bought it you are running .75

options -> about -> v4.7.0.*** (platform 4.0.0.###)

The *** is what OS you are running.

.109 is just as stable as .75, it's a hell of a lot faster, it has some little features that are better. Including the option to make potrait keyboard a full keyboard.

Did the upgrade yesterday - went nice and easy. Just took about 20 minutes and I was up and running.

I didn't notice any real difference over .75, but it's always nice to have the latest and greatest.

My main gripe with it, is that with the stock theme there is no way to put your daily calendar on the home screen. Did you guys find a way to get around that without updating to a different theme?

you can do it with plazmic, just use the stock theme it provides.

No shit man - A lot of people are creating themes that mimic the iphone (minus the flick scrolling) and it's bullshit.

This phone is unique for a reason. Thanks for the tip on Plazmic - I haven't found a them that I like better than the stock so far. Just need the calendar.

That's a kick ass theme. I think I'm going to download the theme file and make some updates to it to make it my own.

Plazmic is installing now.

If I come up with anything cool, I'll shoot it up here so I can share with you fellas. Time to break out the nerd skills.

the only thing about the iphone I'd like carried over to the storm is when you type it pops up the letter your type'n rather than hilight it... makes fatfingering a little less common

I wanted an Iphone but thanks to this forum I brought home a Storm. Having be a VZ customer allowed me to bring it home cheaply.


Any plans on when BB is actually going to release some updates that won't void my warantee?

Thats the only thing that makes me nervous about getting into the phone like that. I am on a streak of terrible luck lately.

Soon hopefully. OS .122 has started showing up as official releases on other carriers. Hopefully Verizon will have it drop before the end of the month.

And if you really want an iPhone, buy an iPod touch. Most of the positives without the weak phone and shit camera. I had one for about three months, got really bored with it after the novelty wore off, and gave it to my mother. Adding a phone and a camera to that wouldn't do a damn thing to make me give half a shit about owning an iPhone now.
