Well I just rolled over 35k and my left fork was leaking (well...for a year now) and it turned into a gusher.
The oil in the left fork looked like crude oil and smelled like death. It was bad, so bad it gave me a headache.
The right fork was changed I'm guessing cause it had a light light red/gold color.
I have non-inverted forks and cartridges inside so its pretty easy for me.

I changed mine at roughly 19000 miles. I busted both fork seals on these damn rough roads here. I was NOT HAPPY!

Being my 10's fork oil has probably never been changed in 23 years and 39k miles, its likely due to be done.

Fork oil? I didn't see that when I bought mine. But I also have stupid SV forks so it may not matter much. I did put a much heavier weight oil in mine. :D

Twice a year.
I'd guess that is every 1200-1500 miles.

I had mine done last year, so it was around 12,000 miles. I don't know what kind of oil was used, but Vesrah seals and bushings were used.

On the street bike: probably not often enough, but I don't really push too hard on the street. I'll do it once every 10-15k miles.
On the race bike: About twice a year, which, with 8 race weekends, 4 races each & 10 track days per year, works out to roughly once every 500 miles. I know some guys that do it after every race weekend.... I don't have that kinda money, even w/ the new financial "aid" I'm getting

Haven't done it on either bike.
Prob when I get back next year on both.

I'll do all of mine next year as they each will be over 10,000 miles by then.

I'm not the original owner, but I'm guessing this is 35k of used oil...............I mean it could be crude oil. Also you think dirty va jay jay smells bad, this tops it.

Did mine at 38K because I was upgrading the springs and the cartridge emulators...plus the seals were leaking a bit. Hubby thinks the oil had not been changed before that...

I had mine done about 5,000 miles, and they're due again @15,000 miles. The guy who did them, gave me a little glass vial of oil, after it settles it has 3/8" of metal powder in the bottom. That was after 5,000 miles. Now I don't know how he sampled the oil, but it has a lot of metal in it.

That metal is usually (and hopefully) all from the bushings.

The bushings should have a teflon coating. If there wasnt any on them then you got problems.
Even though the oil in my left fork was crude oil, the bushings looked brand new.
