* Note * This thread is not designed to showcase my riding skills, Discuss the relative merits of different suspension companies, tire manufacturers or motorcycles. I am interested in feedback on how you think the video looks and suggestions on how I can improve it. Thank you.

Anyway, here is some footage with the camera pointing backwards. FYI I have installed mounts on the left and right of my bike below the frame sliders and will be trying those out tomorrow.

Ha I uploaded the throwaway part of the clip! oops! I'm loading a little better footage now but this gives the idea. Hopefully, Ebbs, Trip, Smittee or NtS... the actual people who were interested in filming the Deal's Gap trip are paying attention.

Video wise it looks good. Maybe put some foam over the mic to eliminate the popping and get clearer engine sound????

Is that a gold and black K8 gixxer 1k???? I always liked that color combo...

You could improve the video by filming it facing forward.

The video itself was pretty good and easy to watch. However, the sound was all buzzy/crackly :panic:

That was a big ass tractor too. Good thing you didn't meet that in a high speed sweeper :willy:

Hmmm that's a good idea! I'll try that tomorrow thanks. The only problem is the damn thing is sealed in a case... I may just cover the mic holes with tape, the crappy sound is killing me!

Yea me and a buddy ran up on a combine one time doing over 100 mph. My shit looked like brown spaghetti for a week!

My normal camera is horrible when it comes to sound. But I found that by taking a peice of pool table felt and putting it over hte mic and then putting some electrical tape over that cuts down the wind noise greatly. Without it my camera sounds way worse than yours. Just stop by a local pool table store and ask them for some "simonis" trash cloth. You don't need much and I'm sure they'll let you grab a peice out of the garbage. I've done foam before but I felt it killed too much sound.

Here is mine and this was on a very cold and windy day.

When I get my GoPro camera back from warranty (if they fix it) I'll mess with some sound deadening for that camera and let you know. Especially since I hope to use it for my triathlon which will have me on a road bike where you hear all wind clear as day.

You could also try mountain it underneath your tail if you feel the tire won't crush it when it compresses. Or throw on your stock mud flap and have it facing backwards there. That should keep some wind off

Plus did you have the waterproof casing on or not?

I help on my in laws farm and the equipment ( tractors, combines etc) doesn't handle worth shit. Road speeds are basically brink of destruction ( so don't cut farm equipment too close )

I've considered the "MotoGp" angles, clutch lever, rear wheel, etc...:idk: BTW you have to have it in the case to mount it. Besides, I'd rather crap hit the case lens than the actual camera lens. I'm thinking about some sound deadening. One interesting thing is that I have the camera set to "low" mic so if I "over deaden" it, I can always increase the gain on the mic.

I would keep it in the case also. I was just curious if you did have it in.

Now it does sound like it's rattling in the case more than the wind. Try throwing a peice of eletrical tape on the inside (not in front of the lense of course) to stop the vibrations.

Nah, that's not it! That thing is locked in solid and under pressure from rubber pieces inside the case. It's definitely the pick up system. I went and bought a high speed SD card today. Hopefully that will fix it, or at least help.

Yea, well I'm not that fast, they just ride more conservatively than I do... The guy on the gold/black GSXR has been bugging me for weeks to go on a ride with me. I've been ducking him like he has herpes but I figured this would be a good opportunity for footage. The other two guys were friends of his.

About 140-150 at points and 60-100 in sweepers. Like I said this never was about how fast I can ride.

If actual speed is X and you squared X what would be your answer???

I was curious just to get a sense of how the camera worked at "x" speed. You were flying then, no wonder those guys could not keep up, I would have been back there with them lol.

I know. Infact from now on when discussing very fast speeds it should be required we should post whatever our speed was squared. It'll be interesting watching new members listen to someone posting "I finally broke 40,000mph" (200^2) on my Hayabusa.

first... nice wheelie SQUID! (can you show me how to land them?)

I think if we do this... we should all do different views... ie someone with one on the front... someone with it on the back... another with one on the side... ect...

I'm gonna be ordering one in the next week or so...

Cool, Yea that sounds like a great idea! If you bring your laptop, we can all download our videos on it and YOU () can make a movie of the rally! If you're feeling REALLY frisky and you have the software, we could work on it the last evening or so and print copies for everyone, if you have a DVD burner, of course. We can edit in pics and side videos, etc.

04-19-2009, 03:33 PM
 I'll let Trip do the video editing... as he's done it before.

I do have a DVD Recorder... but I'd rather save that shit for a day when I'm not on leave and have goregous roads to ride just outside the door... ya know?
