But it's for the wifey. Man, I was REAL impressed when I first saw one of these in person yesterday! I was shocked at how awesome they looked. Very impressed. I put a deposit down on it and I'm gonna ride it home for her tomorrow. I'm gonna check with one guy on our local forum to see if he could beat the deal at this one place. They want $5,000 OTD. I was a little shocked at that. Either way, it'll be paid off in less than two years. I'm real excited for her and I can't wait to drive it home tomorrow! She got the green one.

Sweet bike man. But seriously hold out. $5000 out the door is freakin horrible. Forget a Yosh exhaust with that. They need to throw in some KY lube.

The demand isn't that high on them to get that kind of price. Wait a few weeks and do some research. Shop around. The internet is your friend man.

I know you both love that bike, but thats no reason to pay such a crazy high price for it.

No, I sent off for a quote from Honda East Toledo to see what they sell the 250s for. If I end up with another, it's probably going to a be a Rebel 250 or a dual sport/trail bike. I think if mine ever decides to get serious about riding she would rather a cruiser than a sportbike. Still got a year before she will even consider it though, her parents would filet her. So she is going to wait til we are married.

DLIT,

I know some joints in Socal that are selling them OTD for around $3900-4000!!! Don't get ass raped by that fucking stealership!!! Try to call Advance Kawasaki. http://www.advancedkawasaki.com/ and OTD Cycle Sports http://www.otdcyclesports.com/ OTD has a conglomerate of several warehouse dealerships that have low overheads and they are willing to wheel and deal for the best prices.

I was at Bert's Mega Mall last night (a stealership) and I saw three on the floor. They're going fast but not that fast. BTW, the red one looks HAWT!!!

I hope that you haven't signed shits yet. Come on, dude, ask around next time. We won't let a forum member gets fucked by a stealership.

That goes for anywhere across the country. There is really no reason to feel trapped in your area and get screwed by a dealership. Not ever.

I'll go in and talk to Woods if you want - they generally aren't my choice of dealership, they are kind of the WalMart of dealerships around here (all Japanese bikes). But, I know some people up the food chain there... so if I can help let me know.

Hell, with delivery companies now shipping bikes more often it shouldn't ever happen.

I pulled a fast one on 'em earlier. They called to se when I was gonna pick it up. I told them that I was gonna come by to pick up the deposit, not the bike. I told them a riding buddy works at a dealership and he quoted me at $4,400 OTD (didn't really happen). He takes a pause and says he'll call me back. Calls back and says he can match it. Badass. So now I'm gonna call up the place that my riding buddy works at and see if they can beat $4,400 OTD. He's not really a riding buddy, but I've just seen him around alot and tagged along with him at times. I'm calling them now...

It seems to be working. I just called and they said they'd beat $4,400 OTD. Only thing is, I have to go all the way across town to their shop to get the quote and possibly ride it home. The riding it home isn't the bad thing. So now, I'm gonna call the original place and tell them the other place said they'll beat $4,400. Let's see what they say...

Mr Lefty
03-27-2008, 07:23 PM

They wouldn't say if they would or wouldn't go below $4,400. But I do have a 48 hour hold on the bike which ends Friday. I'm gonna go down to the one place and see how much lower they'll go. If it's not much lower, I'm gonna stick with the original place because they're throwing in a $100 gift certificate.

Well, we went with the $4,400 OTD price. It's my wife's money and that's what she wanted to do. honestly, driving across to the other side of town in rush-hour traffic isn't worth an extra $100 anyway. We got a $100 gift certificate to the parts department there anyway. I just got back from riding it home.

Man, that shit is fun! It's so damn light and flickable. I was just leaning back and forth to scrub in the tires a bit. Definately a great beginer's bike. The throttle is nice and unforgiving. I just took it straight home. Didn't try any twisties or anything. Looks like we'll be going to a lot or something this weekend to practice. I kinda wanna buy one to just whip it around to and fro. I still can't get over the looks. It looks amazing and it's about the same size as my bike when sitting next to eachother.

dude those new ninja 250s are bad ass looking.. makes you want to ride it just for how it looks.. headlight looks a little weak imo - something ain't right there - but the rest of it is very sweet looking... good deal.. best of luck to her on the new bike.. i wish i could get the wife interested and get her one.. she is taking a hiatus from even riding on the back of the r6 until we get our life insurance sorted out, etc. whatever.. if i wait to get my ducks in a row i'd probably be 50 when i started riding again.. but yeah i like that new ninja 250 - not a big fan of team green but that is bad ass...

If I got one, I would have to look into getting some wider wheels to fit better tires. I would put a full system and rejet because that really make this bike come to life. Other than that, this bike is crazy go nuts kewl. It's nice to see someone offering a great bike in the 250 class finally.

My buddy just tried to buy an O6 FZ1. A Local Yamaha/Honda Stealership wanted $7249 for the 06 tht has been sitting there forever. The 07s were $7269. Yes a $20 difference. They wouldn't budge on the price. Which apparently I found out they have 3 brand new 2004(Yes I said 4) Honda RC51s that are still in the crates. They won't budge on their prices plus they have complete assholes working there. They'll cuss in front of customers. Which I don't care about cussing but I think it's bad salesmenshop. For all they know I could be a multi-millionare preacher who would love to buy more toys.

My buddy had $7000 cash and if they came down to probably $7000(OTD) or less he would have bought it that day and the bike would be gone.

Anyways I guess it's been established that $5000 is way too much.

Which honestly if you can be patient I bet some used 08s will pop up fairly soon. A lot of people get them for a few months then want something faster. So they sell them for fairly reasonble.

Also have you looked into the Ninja650r? I hear those are some pretty decent beginner bikes too. Also my buddy got an 08 SV650s and that thing is perfect beginner bike. The torque on it is not bad at all. It's nothing like the carbed SV650s which had a lot of torque around 2-3k which can get dangerous. Just a thought.

But good luck with your hunt.

:wtfru:

I guess they think they are made of Gold or something. Which I was mistaken. They have 3 in the crate 04 RC51s and a 2005 RC51 on the showroom(Nicky Hayden edition). Also two 2006 F4i's brand new. I tried to get one but couldn't get financed. Plus they pissed me off. They had some slip on(Can't remember which) on the F4i I wanted. But they wanted to charge $400 for the slip on on the new bike. I told them I wanted it off then and they said they wouldn't do it because by the time they paid their service guys to remove it it'd cost the same. So I said that I'd run home get my spring puller and 12mm socket and switch it to the other F4i for them. They wouldn't budge. Fuckers.

Now I'm probably going to hold off on a new sportbike and get an ATV. Either a Yamaha YZF350 or a Honda TRX300. They sell both but I won't be going there ever.

Dlit. I got through I think 4 pages and said "Fuck it I'll comment". But glad to hear. Those Ninja250s are pretty fun. And I want to see some knee dragging on that bad boy.
