We had to install the ground effects kit on it. Talk about a lot of work for a "body kit".

Interesting. Is that the new Cavalier SS? It almost looks like a real car.

I haven't seen one in person. Is it as huge as some say ? Bigger than a Dodge Challenger ?

It looks bulky in person, almost more so than in pictures. The Challenger seems to look smaller than the pictures make it seem. It still has some heft to it, but it doesn't look as disproportionately overweight as the Camaro does.

Some of the earlier prototypes looked a little better.
For the record, though, I agree with Trip.
My mom had a '68 SS that was sold to one of my cousins when I was just a toddler.
I SOOOOOO wish I could get that car back from him. :(

IMO, it doesnt look awful, but I'm also not a chevy fan usually. it actually looks pretty aggressive in all honesty.

Pretty much spot on from what I've heard elsewhere. Thanks.

I like the Challenger...assuming I can get a manual transmission. It would actually be for the wife and she just doesn't want an automatic. I've created a monster. :idk:

Pretty much the exact opposite opinion from mine. I think the Challenger looks way too big & wide, with too much overhang, and the wheels are tucked in too much. And IMO that's always been true of all Mopars, old and new.

I'll say that I don't like the Challenger and the Camaro doesn't do that much for me BUT I really happy they are on the market.

They wife actually wants the new 370Z or a Vette but we do like the Challenger although we haven't actually driven one.

My brother-in-law drove one and said it wasn't very fun to drive because it was geared for top end. This is coming form a guy who has a 911 and a 540. So :idk: I sure love the look of the G37 though.

We may check one out just so she can drive it....well me too.

I hate to hear if it is geared that way...I know you can change the gears but I don't won't to buy a car under warranty and then start tearing it apart although I did make a few changes to the Z06 before the warranty ran out...luckily I've had no issues.

I like the 911 and 540...nice rides.

As long as you get a Hemi, you can get a 6 speed.

There are 3 SRT8's on the lot here, all with manuals... i really want to drive one!

Cool thanks. We'd take nothing less than the Hemi. We've driven some other SRT8's but not the Challenger. IF we bought one it probably wouldn't be the SRT8 unless we found a heck of a deal but not likely.

We also drove the SRT10 Viper on a roadcourse and an autocross track...now that was fun but we're not in the market for one of them. I actually like the Z06 better overall but I still do like the Viper.

Truth.
I don't think I'd even complain too much about the interior.

As for the Challenger SRT8... hell yeah, I'd like to drive one too.
And I will... just as soon as I find someone to buy it for me and front me gas money to feed that hungry super-Hemi for the first year or so. :nee:

Don't like the ground effects, but the Camaro is tight.

I also like the Challenger. I like the feeling of sitting low in the car like the old F-bodies.

$45K I think is MSRP on the SRT8 with a 6 spd.

I've heard rumor that there could be a Challenger SRT10 for 2010. :idk:

I got to drive the SRT10 Ram once, our Chrysler rep had one. Stupid fast if/when you got it to hook up, but for a dd, you would have a massive left leg. That clutch is STIFF!

Truth.

No doubt, rated at 14 and 20 with the 6.1L :panic: My pickup does that!

But test drives are still kinda fun.

local poster said dealerships are asking $6k over MSRP for market value. making the top of the line SS = ~$43k

fuk that

That's fucking ridiculous, especially since you can get a mildly used Corvette for under that price. Unless that's their plan to move some of the Corvettes taking up space on their lots.

I wouldn't really consider an SRT8 either. While the extra power would be nice you do not get the lifetime powertrain warranty on SRT vehicles. Basically everything in the powertrain outside of the clutch would be covered for as long as you own the vehicle for the R/T.

Considering that this might very well be one of the last Chevys with that much power, the asking price is probably justified seeing how collectors will try and scoop them up.

Good info. I'd have to find a good/great deal to get the SRT but the R/T may be the way to go IF we go this route at all.

Are those sills going to stay black? It looks particularly weird where the door kinks into it. Or are they going to get painted?
