We have a rally in Towanda, PA (normally, but the gas people took all the hotels through next year) the weekend after Labor Day. I'm not sure if we're going or not, as we haven't settled on a new location. That could be a possibility...

I'm in for Gettysburg. Always had fun at those rallys.

One of the guys on CF has family that owns the hotel we always stay at. Nice big parking lot that is easily taken over and nice cheap room rates.

It's possible the Cycleforums folks may actually do this rally again on Labor Day weekend.

Even still I would still make it there in some shape or form to hang out.

Marko, Itgirl live right in the area, as do a couple other buds from another board. Go 45 mins north up the river to coal country . East and you are 20 mins from Catoctin State Park in Md (Maryland Wine Country)...another 20 minutes south on sweepers and rolling hills and I'll lead you into WV hillbilly country and seduce you with Rockin and Rollin Rt9 through Paw Paw where you can hear banjos playing back in the woods and everybody doesn't just know all their neighbors...they're all related:?:

When we stayed at crosskeys there was some park in MD that had some realy nice roads. One ride a local guy took us through some of it and on another trip we just got a map and went out and looked for roads and found some nice ones along with a few dirt roads:tremble:

Cant recall the name of the park, it was a little further south into maryland and I think was near rt 72 if i am not mistaken. I know one of the roads entering the park goes over a set of railroad tracks if that helps.

And as for the cold remember, underarmor, then polypro, then draggin jeans, then leather. No need for heated gear killing my stator.

Damn, we're talking October, not January! Most you'll need is a jacket liner and some under armour. I've ridden in plenty of cold weather (like 20F cold, not 50 and damp). Best thing you can do to stay warm is block the wind. Leather overpants over jeans and underarmour are perfect. A neck gaiter is irreplaceable. Heated grips and insulated gloves do alright for a while.

Rain pssh. Wet is no problem. Lightning is the issue, and sight distance.

No "decision" as yet, but the first weekend in October seems to be the general consensus. I would say something like Thursday Oct. 1 through Sunday Oct. 4.

The cottages here sound good. Looks like $145 a night divided by however many people- they have beds for 6, but we can fit more. Anyone that wants to use a tent, can.

When is everyone planning on arriving and leaving? I can head out friday morning or possibly thursday if people are heading out early. I am goin gto leave sun afternoon because I am going to schedule a track day at njmp on monday.

For the rooms if you call the cross keys we should tell them we are part of the TWF crew that way they put us all near one another. I will call tomorrow or fri to book my room, they have my info on file from all the CF rallies I had been to so I can just put my room on my cc that way its one less hassle for everyone.

Now whats the beer situation, I can get kegs of prety much whatever beer at a very good price but would need to know in a week or so so I can order them. Also how many people and whos drinking so I have an idea of how much to get. I can also bring an ez up and a few chairs so we can set up out back.

Could also be a good idea to put all the most uptodate details on the first post so everyone can easily see whats going on instead of sifting through all the pages here.

Looks like the group rate per room, per night is $74.12. Includes a full breakfast (not just continental bagels and OJ) So that's $37 per person per night. Anybody care to say what you paid before?

I think for the rally it was somewhere around there, maybe a few dollars more if I remember correctly, but the breakfast vouchers are nice and they have good food in the restaurant there.

Heres what i can offer so far, the restaurant is connected to the hotel and theres a wendys and convienence store across the street. You can go 2 ways out of the hotel into towns that have places to eat and things to do.

Few years back we went to a brewpub down in gettysburg but werent too impressed with it, theres also an italian place that had good food but last time we went the servie was lousy. But rob and nancy said it was great the other times they went.

Theres a go kart place up the street and also a dirt/oval track they race at on saturday nights.

theres a 50-75 mile loop we would go on thats close to the hotel that I kinda remember, and for a longer run theres a park over the MD border that has some nice roads too. Hopefully if grecco gixxer comes by he can lead us on some of the roads.

We could head toward WV too.

I know a bunch of good roads heading North, but no down that way.

I don't want to hear about wendys... They can :gofurslf:

Karts sound like fun, but I don't think many will want to go to the dirt track unless it's well after dark. Depends when the races start.
Unfortunately, Gettysburg is a bit out of my neighborhood- I haven't made it past carlisle going east.

We never went to the dirt track but I rode past it on a litylte ride its like 2 minutes from the hotel and you can hear them racing from the hotel parking lot. For now I am just trying to throw out as much infor so we can make some tenative plans once were there.

Anyone bringing their GF's or others who wont be riding, I was going to bring karen but with my bikes suspension well beyond shot I cant do any 2 up riding and she didnt want to bum around th ehotel by herself all day while we were out riding. At the previous CF rallies there were a bunch of people who wouldnt be riding for various reasons so they always went out and did stuff.

I'm not, but if Marko's wife's not on back, I can leave the tourpack on and there is a lazy boy seat back there for anybody else's wife.

I would LOVE to! My bike was built there!!

Yeah i heard they are trying to move it. I heard Kansas is a big hitter for it. Something about moving it next to another factory. One big complex of all hd building.

Yeah, from what I've heard there are about 6 sites they are considering and none of them are the current spot. It's all but guaranteed that they are leaving.

Yeah but I hear they are leaning hard towards kansas where they already have the room right next to the other factory.

How cool would it be to ride my Ultra to where it was born. How freakin cool!
