:loser:GM's much awaited 2010 Chevrolet Camaro has only been on dealership floors for a few weeks but the car has already suffered its first recall due to an exposed power cable. The issue lies in the V8 Camaro's battery, which in some cars has been experiencing short circuits due to the exposed cable. The V6 models are unaffected.

The faulty battery may prevent the Camaro from starting up, cut off power during driving, or even spark a fire in the engine compartment. GM is warning all Camaro drivers not to drive their vehicles and that dealers will provide courtesy vehicles until the cars have been repaired.

In the meantime, owners can opt for a temporary fix by wrapping the affected cable in special electrical tape, which can be done at most dealerships. Otherwise, they will have to wait until GM comes up with a permanent fix for the problem.

The news doesn't bode well for one of GM's most anticipated cars of the year, especially with the carmaker announcing recently that is ramping production of the rejuvenated muscle car to meet demand. Furthermore, there are claims the car’s front bracket can suffer minor cracks when the car is taken up to speeds in excess of 155mph, however, GM is yet to confirm if this is a widespread issue or just an isolated one.

OK tape it up and ur good 2 go. Big deal.

It only affects if a vehicle is in a crash anyway.

GM makes a car other than the corvette that will do 155 mph?

Yeah. The pony cars have all been able to do 160+ since 1993. My 1995 Formula will do something like 168 iirc (GPS verified).

Is a roll of tape standard equipment, or do you have to pay extra for that?

The front bracket cliam is related to a preproduction car being used by a tuner.
It's not a production issue

A Colbalt SS will do 155 I would imagine.

I believe the GTO and possibly the G8 are capable of such speeds

What's the addition of some electrical tape to a product held together by duct tape and baling wire?

Shouldn't a hard working engineer have done this already?

Fucking hilarious.

Well at least people will know that the new Camaro is still a real Camaro.

No that would be an overpaid, union scum, wiring assembler. It's not the engineers fault the douche bags assembled it wrong.

Yes but at least the engineer is paid what he is worth. Their pay is not out of line with other engineers. The hourly line workers are making about double of their non union equivalents.

Well I know union workers are full of fail but in this specific case shouldn't the engineers have corrected the problem before production?

Hello, say hello to my friend Sam.
Sam: "I tate the rainbow!"
Sam is mentally handicapped
Sam: "I tate the rainbow!"
Sam is 40 years old and has the mental capacity of a 6 year old
Sam: "I tate the rainbow!"
Oops, looks like Sam soiled himself
Sam: "DER GO DA RAINBOW!!! DER GO DA RAINBOW!!!"
(Sam proceeds to reach into his adult diaper and scoop fecal matter out onto the table. He then proceeds to eat the fecal matter)

Sam: "I tate the rainbow!"

My God. It is now blatantly obvious that GM makes you drink the Kool-aid before you can take delivery of your Camaro. The forum linked below has the most aplolgists I have ever seen in one place. Maybe they are in denial after plunking down $40k+ on a steaming pile of shit.

That is some fine product validation by GM.

Someone screwed up and GM's taking care of it.
Both the V6 and V8 Camaro's are outstanding vehicles for the money.

The harness prolly or most likely comes from Delphi and it probably wasn't spec'd to be taped in that area. There are alot of bare B+ connections throughout the vehicle, but I'm guessing its a crash-safety issue that may have never had a problem, but GM wanted to fix it before something happened.

I bought the redesigned SV the month it came out and have had it for 6 years with 0 problems other than a clutch cable that broke last year after over 20,000 miles of shifts

Every vehicle harness I've ever seem (name any car) uses electrical tape near the end of the conduit.

Ok, talked to my buddy that is a tech at a chevy dealership today. They just got in 3 new ones. The cable from the battery to the starter is too short by about an inch or so. It is in conduit, but *could* rub on the frame and possibly cut through the insulation. It's about a 20 min fix, new cable and boom, all better.

The weights on the calipers... well... no one knows. :idk:

After seeing it in person, yeah... I'll take the challenger. It really just doesn't do it for me.

Damn...after seeing the Challenger, I was leaning towards the Camaro, something I haven't seen up close yet.

Genesis coupe looks better each time I see it.

Things I didn't like about the Camaro.
-rear "shoulders" of the car, too bulky and the roofline flows to the center too soon. They just didn't flow right to me :idk:
-Sides of the car seemed too tall
-roof height/glass height seemed too short, like the roof was squished down. This could have something to do with the sides seeming too tall.
-door lock button in the center console
-HVAC controls are... different... to say the least

Haven't gotten a chance to drive it yet, but my bud said it's stupid quick, even with the auto.

I thought the rednecks that buy them were the ones who put the duct tape all over them, but maybe it's factory tape after all?
