The new Star Trek movie. :rockwoot:
(Sorry, no need for a spoiler warning for/from me, but just in case some douchebag twatwaffle posts something spoiler-ish after this, it seemed like the prudent thing to do...)

I worked at a theater while I was in college. Best. Job. Ever!

I had a movie theater job too. I had more fun at that job than any other job I've ever had. I remember the days of broom hockey.. :lol

It's even better when you run 'em and you have the keys
I also ran a drive-in in the summer. That was an awesome job.

I made it to assistant manager and ran the projectors. What a blast that was.

we had one theater that still had the old hour reels... the rest of them were platter systems.
The projector at the drive-in was built in the 30's and ran like a swiss watch.

Wish that I could see it in IMAX, but one of the big curved screen theatres will just have to do. I might make it a marathon with both Star Trek and Wolverine on Sunday.

This was in the mid-late 80's and the theater was brand new. We used Christie platters and we had 5 35mm projectors and 1 70mm projector.
Now with everything being digital all you have to do is hit the play button.

Not gonna read any spoilers, but I'll just say it's good for this movie to come out. Star Trek was always better than Star Wars, because it focused on humans and their potential, not some galaxy far far away. It's about time people started thinking positively about humanity's future, instead of wasting time watching pro wrestling or some narcissistic reality TV show.

Ok, fine then, I'll spoil it.
Kirk gets laid, Spock says "Interesting" 28 times, and everybody stupid enough to wear a red shirt, and not be named Scotty, gets his ass blown up. The End.

I could never watch the old star trek. I'd just fall asleep the second my father started watching it.. and the annoying beeps in the background that repeat every 5 seconds... This movie looks bad ass though. I gotta see it and the new x-men.
garrr in my seat at the theater awaiting previews....

Terminator salvation....2 weeks
the way that series has treated time travel causality makes my head hurt. my hopes for another terminator movie on par with the original are about as dead as the original concept for alien 3 :lmao:
Saw Star Trek on Thursday nite, loved it. There was enough tie-in to the old series, and enough creativity to draw in the newbies.
Oh, and I'll be seeing it at the IMAX next weekend. Because I must.

Chekov was great!! It took me a minute to get past Sulu being the MILF guy (and also the Harold&Kumar guy), but then I was alright with him.

I was a pretty big fan of that too. I'd like to see JJ Abrams helm a few more of them, he kicked ass, although if you have a friend who has epilepsy, PLEASE warn them first. Even through my glasses I gpot a headache from all the flashing lights. Sure Mr Abrams, the future is bright, but we don't need all the flash artifacts to prove it.
Did anyone else dig Sulu's extedable katana and the swordplay as much as I did?

Saw it today, good movie. I like the way they made Star Fleet a little more military like and also a little more grimey. I was a fan of TNG but the one thing I ddnt like was how sterile everything was.
Also, Terminator looks BADASS, cant wait to see that one.

Yeah, it was a good movie, full of action. I love how they killed off a random red guy in the space jump on the drill part.
Sulu was definitely more interesting, he was blah on the show.
Scotty was definitely my favorite.

Typical "buh-bye Redshirt" moment
"I like this ship. It's exciting!"
The only time original Sulu wasn't boring, was when he did his D'Artagnan bit. He's talked about it in interviews. They were trying to come up with ways to make it interesting for his character in that episode and asked him if he'd ever done sword-work in his acting. "Um, yes. Yes I have." No, he hadn't. He went out, got a foil, and started practicing the moment that he got off set.

She was smokin hot. She'll also be Scarlett in GI Joe, if you need another reason to see that one.
Really good movie. Chekov kind of annoyed me, but meh, not enough to ruin the movie. The shakey cam shit needs to end. It's annoying as hell with it's in all the action scenes covering up all the good stuff, but was it really necessary to do the shakey shit when people are just sitting down talking? For fucks sake, please let that little technique die already.

Ah, the NYPD Blue "technique"...............Make things more "realistic" by pretending that the photographer isn't very good.

It must be some Hollywood game where the viewer is supposed to guess the magnitude of the earthquake happening while Jim sits down at a table. I'm guessing 7.2 from all the camera jostling.
