If all goes well (basically if he does in fact hold the bike until we can get to a bank for the cash tomorrow) I will be the proud owner of a 93 Ninja 600R with only 7,600 miles on it. From the ad: "Bike is in excellent shape, was never down and has a good, clean title. Only aftermarket parts on the bike are a full vane and hines exhaust from the headers back. Bike was my sisters so you know it wasnt beat. CLEAN TITLE!. Bike starts right up and needs nothing at all, Currently its on the road and inspected so if your interested in it you could come uup hear it run and test ride it.". This bike was so clean you could eat off of it! It has electronic adjustable shocks? I forget the name on it... We started it and listened to it run and it sounded SOOOOOO good! No body or frame issues and low mileage. I am psyched! Now I have to sign up for my MSF...

That's a good-looking bike. I can't see an old 600 having an electronic shock though  How much are they asking? Did you bring an experienced rider who knows how to spot problems with a bike?

Yes, Dutch has been riding over 20 years and checked it out. It was $2k and he was perfectly fine with that price due to the immaculate condition of the bike. New chain also, and they had the work done at a reputable shop and have all the reciepts. The picture doesn't do it justice. This bike is a beauty. We thought it was rather odd to have the electronic shock as well, but the bike rides great with it. Now we need to download a manual on how to adjust it, because the girl misplaced it. These folks live within 2 miles of us, so if there's any questions I can go ask.
I'll upload pics tomorrow night after we get it home.

Angee!! That is great and those are neat bikes. The electronic thing may be Anti-dive on the forks that the ad was meaning.
Congratulations on the find and your joining the ranks of the crazies..

Hehe...yeah, I dropped the bitch already... Practicing turning in the drive and hit the brake while the wheel was turned. I think I might have gotten up to 3mph...

It's funny...I tried to save it until it got far over enough I knew it wasn't happening...she just rolled over. Just one mark on the fairing, but I figure this is the first of many...

Gives new meaning to "stop, drop and roll" LOL I tried to save, but she still went, but a lot gentler than if I didn't see her damn near all the way down...lol Ah well...it happens to everyone. Got back on and kept practicing... Can anybody tell me WTF is this?? Well, not what, but who makes it? no manual...

hehe...almost did it again, but saved it...let off the clutch too quick, lurched, grabbed clutch and grabbed brake...realized it quickly and release pressure on the brake and eased it to a stop...it's getting easier to correct, at least! Still going slow in first and controlling speed with the clutch and no gas. I've heard slow turns are the hard part, so knocking those out right up front! Just got back in from a second round because it's VERY dark out here and I'm not comfortable enough in a meager two days to be practicing in the dark. We have a friend who is going to help out with my front-yard instruction to make sure we cover the bases. Not going out of parking lots until I get the MSF under my belt and get comfy. I'm not even getting the bike tagged nor my permit for another 2 weeks...not in a rush...I have a lot to learn. :D

Yes, I wore gear...lol No pics of practice, as Duch was too busy instructing  You should have seen him run when I almost ditched it again! :lol My teenager was laughing, of course...little shit.

It's great you have someone to teach you the basics before you even get to the MSF course. That will help you out A LOT. I was really focused on clutch control for the entire MSF class and I missed out some on the big picture. Good luck, and have fun.
My teenager was laughing, of course...little shit.
Throw 'em on the bike and then see who's the one laughing.

I've been riding on the back seat! Also been riding a little dirt bike, but it's a far cry from a 400lb sportbike. Definitely harder than it looks, but easier than I thought in some respects. That first drop really drove home just how much work it is to actually be the one in control! Gives you a lot of respect not only for bikes, but those who ride. Of course, I've always respected riders...maybe cagers need to start being required to take an hour long course on a bike just so they can see what it's about...maybe it would give them some more respect to riders on the road.

One from today...going really slow around the lot.
http://i136.photobucket.com/albums/q185/cabbiechick1/Picture020.jpg
Yes, my feet are hovering and not on the pegs...going too slow. I think I'm going to go get this registered Monday so we can go to a bigger lot to practice. I'm getting my permit the 27th.

Trying to get her to look through the turns... :idk:
She has that zombie, head-locked-straight-forward, white knuckle thing going on.
I think the next step is a larger lot so we can get up enough speed for the bike to stabilize itself. So far everything has been at the 1st gear, wobbly speeds. Though I can't complain. She's doing very well for someone who has never ridden a full sized bike before.

Bite me. :P It's hard to get into that from the front seat...I'm working on it! I never realized just how limited your sight is in that helmet until I actually NEEDED to see...It's a big transition...

I'll hopefully get some of my long NYS rides in soon so I'm probably going to pass through that area once or twice. :)
