View Full Version : Good Movies to put on Netflix?

As most of you know I am in Alaska for the summer. On top of that I am also working nights which means my non-existent social life will be much more boring. To make things worse, my internet is terrible but thats because I live in employee housing.
Either way, I have time to kill. I signed up for Netflix to catch up on a ton of movies I have been putting off.
I tend to like interesting documentaries, suspense, comedy, action or just odd but humorous shit. I also lined up all of Nip/Tuck, The Office, LOST. I know I like nip/tuck and the office but all the rambling of lost made we want to give it a shot. I will also enjoy watching them in a row since I can never keep up with any series. I also got some cool documentaries like Generation: Kill, Carrier, The Marines, Everest. Just random things that look mildly appealing.
Today I finally watched Pulp Fiction. Great movie. 3:10 to Yuma is next up but I may not watch it today.
So basically, I need suggestions of all sorts to put on the list. I have 100 disks on their now, but I could always use more recommendations.
P.S. Anyone know of a good online texas holdem site?

I tend to like interesting documentaries,
We tend to watch more documentaries than movies thru Netflix.
Some of the good one's we've seen are:
Dust To Glory
Inside The Living Body
Two Days In April
God Grew Tired Of Us
Everest: IMAX
F**K: A Documentary
Maxed Out
This Film Is Not Yet Rated
Spellbound
Faster
Paper Clips
Billabong Odyssey
Scrabylon
Might I also suggest you rent the show "Damages". It airs on cable but season 1 is on Netflix. Awesome show, terrific acting and really is a "must see".

what's the turnaround time like there? About 3-4 days here. Actually I just looked at the CDs and it looks like there is a warehouse in Anchorage. Suppose I will find out when I drop these off in the morning.

I have already seen the Bourne movies and loved them. Just added Unforgiven, and 5 seasons of 6 feet under, the HBO comedy.
Thanks to this thread I have probably added about 100 plus movies based off recommendations and then ones that Netflix popped up based on those. :dribble:

Dexter: Its a showtime series that follows this serial killer who works in the forensics department.
Weeds: About a single mom drug dealer. Hilarious.
Gran Torino is badass.
If you like zombies, Resident evil movies.
Zack and Miri Make a Porno
Role Models
College
All of the American Pie movies
Any movie with Jason Statham in it (action movies)
Any Will Smith Movie
Any Edward Norton movie, especially Fight Club and American History X
Anything that Guy Ritchie has directed, esp. Snatch, RocknRolla, and Revolver.
Anything Quentin Tarantino has acted in, directed, or produced. Some of his stuff is fucked up (like hostel.) but others are badass (like pulp fiction, reservoir dogs, etc.) I can't wait for Inglorious Basterds to come out.
House, Scrubs, Mentalist, Southpark (from the beginning), family guy.
That is about all I can think of right now.

Uh what? I didn't really enjoy Hot Fuzz too much either.
I did notice a couple odd things in Pulp Fiction. For instance in the Taxi scene, the rolling background is like a black & white scene from a real old 1950s movie, before and after are in full color though. In another scene the camera cuts away from Bruce Willis right as he is putting his pants on and when it cuts back, he has just finished buttoning up his shirt but has no pants on.
Between those two scenes, I really thought I was losing it. However, if I was smart I would have looked this stuff up on the internet first to see what I had missed.

Hot Fuzz and Shaun of the Dead have several scenes that are virtually identical.

I only made it half way through the movie before giving up on it. Normally I will decide after 10 minutes whether to finish the movie or not.
