You may want to fix your pic link.

Wasn't that bike only $3600(MSRP) brand new?

:( We were just talking about you the other day, wondered if you'd given up riding. :(

I will say though, your asking price is a bit high. NEW '08's are MSRP at $3499, and right now Kawasaki is offering up to $300 off. I know you've got some mods to it, but you can't expect to recoup that money, since not everyone's gonna appreciate the same mods... (I'm just givin you a heads up, cus if you go posting it on Craigslist or something, that's the response you're going to get).

Just food for thought... good luck with the sale!

I haven't given up on riding...I will be buying a 600 in a few months. As of the price I did put "obo"

Personally if i see a price that is stupid, even with a obo, I won't bother, cause it usually means the seller thinks there shit is worth more than it is. Not saying this is always true, but it's how buyers think.

Don't put your drop dead price, but rather a "reasonable" price with some negotiating room to get to your drop dead price.

New is 3500. Yours is used. 3K. Mods may be worth something, so start at 3300 obo and see what you can do.

Just my 2c.

Good luck with sale, and I would like to see the SV bars on that... sounds interesting.

Yea I just went with a girl to Ron Ayers and she bought an '09 for $4k OTD with an extended warranty and a helmet... I doubt a set of handlebars and some drill work to the muffler is gonna get you MSRP on a used bike. BTW I don't know where some of you are getting your numbers but the '09 lists for $3999 in the regular colors.

Oh and I can't resist but this is exactly what I've always talked about when it comes to first bikes... Someone lets their friends, a forum, etc browbeat them into a 250and they put 1000 miles on it before they get bored and want something bigger. I mean that bike is barely broke in, has the oil even been changed yet?

IMHO you'd be better off trading it in to the dealer...I'd at least see what they'll give you on a new bike before you go through the hassle of selling it yourself.

Why? I'll save her the trouble:

Dealer: that's a nice bike you have there. I think we can work a deal on an XYZ600RR. Let's look a the book value on your bike. (flip open blue book). Well, it looks like you bike books for $1800. If you're really lookin to get a bike today, I can knock an extra 200 off the XYZ600RR and that'll give you a $2000 downpayment on our $9500 MSRP.

Wrong...average retail according to NADA is $2500, most dealers will give you that if you push... Hopefully, she can find some Cuban drug lord that wants to buy one for his punta...

My bad. IIRC the 08 listed at 3500, forgot they upped it.

Either way $4000 is ridiculous for a used bike that cost $3500 in '08...:idk:

...buy a 600 or a 636 and go for it.

Tigger's right though... the ergos on the ZX6R (any of them) are gonna be far less comfy than the 250. Just don't rule out something like the 650R, and SV650, an FZ6 or something of that nature. If you've got back problems, they'll give you a much comfier riding position than a supersport.

My biggest worry is that she is sitting there...I won't be able to ride her for a long time. So I figure...sell her...get $$$ Ican use towards my house....then when I can ride again...buy a 600 or a 636 and go for it.

Hey that's a good plan I'm just concerned that you're going to lose your ass by selling it at the dreaded 1 year mark. Basically, you could sit on this bike for another year and still get about the same for it.

As a prospective buyer, I wouldn't even e-mail with an offer at that asking price. OBO doesn't mean a thing if it's preceeded by an unreasnable number. ;)

10-4 Agreed. Sorry about the inappropriate posting .

Moni - as far as determining a selling price.... If you haven't already, I'd suggest searching ebay/craigslist/cycletrader for comparison with comparable bikes.
Especially ebay where you can see what they actually went for.

I think the 250 is fairly 'rare' in dealerships & it's the perfect time of year to sell, so you have that in your favor for getting a good price out of it. And whatever your decision - good luck with the back and the bike!

True, but it is her thread and her decision on what to sell it for and we try to keep out of these threads.

Moni, if you DO want to change the price later, just let one of the mods know...

Moni said herself that she was looking for reactions to her asking price so she could adjust it accordingly. Me thinks this is just a "feeler" before she puts it on the market locally in FL.

ETA: That post seems to have disappeared, but it was there at one point.

I agree, as she hasn't posted it on the local boards.

(Sorry, I might've cleaned it up in cleaning up the other stuff  )

I vote for checking that price against local CL ads for what will sell. Unless, of course, it is a matter of trying to sell it - without really wanting to sell it. I mean, you can ASK a price all you want. But, if you really want to sell the bike - start at a price that is reasonable and expect to receive notice from people that are price police. It would happen if it were on a forum or CL - people email me that a price is off all the time :idk:

Good luck with the sale.

Thanks for all the advice....I will miss my girl but it needs to be done. It really sucks to get home and the first thing I see is my bike sitting there collecting dust. I'm also afraid that just letting her run for a 1/2 hour here and there is not going to cut it and I dont want to let anything happen to her.

I know I probably wont get more the 3k for her but its ok. Time will tell

Those bikes were going for 5k OTD in CA...and I've seen as high at 5500 OTD. The 09s seem to be cheaper, but are still pricey.

I think 3500 is reasonable.
