Unsafe operation, illegal passing, failure to maintain control, failure to maintain lane, plus any of a thousand local ordinances that are on the books that vary town to town.

Thats just off the top of my head there are more that they can get you with

Just wheelie through the lanes. Cops in Texas are very tolerant.

Its not illegal in TX...at least it does not say anywhere that splitting is illegal. Just like CA. Its not legal in CA...but its not illegal.

I wheelied while splitting at 60mph once...it was an accident tho since I usually don't wheelie.

Agreed, but it is enforced in TX unlike CA where it is not enforced

Actually, california allows for lane splitting. and if its NOT legal, its illegal. thats just basic logic right there. here there are laws specifically prohibiting passing another vehicle in the same lane as that vehicle occupies.

I didn't say it was NOT legal..I stated there was nothing on the books that says its NOT legal or illegal. Also, in CA you are allowed to lane share, not lane split.

I also heard Atlanta in the city allows for lanesplitting.

if its not illegal how can it be "enforced'?.

Lane splitting would scare the piss outa me in our ohio traffic. too many grey hairs and pissed of douche bags.

I've never heard of that. I don't even see the 10billion scooters we have putting around the city doing it. The only people I see that do it are cyclists because we have a "share the road" policy. Otherwise a cop could ticket a driver for passing a bicyclist on a double yellow.

It'd be sweet if they did though. We do get a crapload of motorcycle parking from both the government and the private sector.

When I visit my parents in IL I usually do it. Its funny when cars on the freeways don't expect it. You'll be behind a car and can't pass because they are riding side by side doing 60mph and here I come up in there lane. Pass their ass up riding like 5mph more than they are doing waving at the kids or dog. lol

There are alot of douche bags in CA too that do not like splitting and will yank the wheel over a few feet. You get used to moving the bike quickly and how to properly take a mirror off it need be. I'm just sayin..

down here, lanesplitting is reserved for the retards and squids. too many old people to do that here unless you've always got a baseball bat up your left sleeve.

Lane "sharing" is legal in California, splitting is kind of allowed by corollary. Two vehicles are permitted to drive in the same lane. It's kind of a loophole. No other state has that as far as I know.

Because they get you for other things, like failure to maintain lane, illegal passing, unsafe operation. Just because its not illegal doesn't mean that the cops cant still write you a ticket for it. There are so many laws on the books that they will find something to write you up for.

Lane splitting is illegal in TX. There's a bill in the TX House right now to legalize it.

I believe it's still up for debate in Texas:
