This time next week, OSP will be officially armed.

Bought one of these today:
http://www.defensereview.com/1_31_2004/Smith%20&%20Wesson%20M&%20P%20Pistol_2_Large.jpg

Smith & Wesson M&P .40

I'm freaking out... cannot wait... It comes with two magazines and I got a coupon for a $50 mail in rebate, plus two additional magazines. Just gotta wait three days till I can get my grubby hands on it.

I don't like Glocks... None of them feel right in my hand... The S&W was like a glove, plus it comes with three changeable grips to make it even better. I was checking out the Ruger P series which was slightly more comfortable, but I got a better deal than what they could have done on the Ruger. Gun shows rock.

Yeah, the S&W is nice in your hand, but I love the feel of the glock and they've ben voted the best so many times!

:withstupid: it's funny to see that about different products... they'll twist the shit and find some obscure magazine or group to vote them the best... do your research and "vote" your self.

But if the weapon doesn't fit your hand correctly, you won't be accurate with it.

Now make sure you practice, practice, practice with it and keep it clean.

There's a shooting range literally 1/2 mile away from my place... I am going to go check it out ASAP and will probably apply to be a member.

Sweet. I've been looking for awhile, need to get something this summer, but right now, the finances are elsewhere.

I do belive I will go with the Glock however.

I went to a gun store here in Indy that allows you to rent guns, $10 each. Great way to try out different guns to see which you like best. The ruger was quite nice. I liked the glock, but the one I was using had a laser sight, which I wasn't fond of.

Maybe it was the fact that it wasn't sighted in correctly (and with only 1/2 hour range time, I wasn't going to bother), but I simply was not a fan of it. I prefer open sights, at least in that instance. Maybe it would be different if I had to point and shoot quickly, but if someone breaks in your house, you're usually going to be close enough with a handgun that you don't really need a laser sight on it...

Nothing a new hogue grip won't fix.

Looks like a nice piece. I got a Glock 23 which is a 40 cal. Have my CCW class in like 6 days. Will probably be packin this summer on the scoot. I will not be like that craigslist where somebody be takin my shit.

What's fucked up is, they were offering CCW classes at the gun show, but we got there like 10 minutes too late... I would have been able to take that shit home with me today if I would have gotten the CCW.

Well depending on your state... but not true. I am paying $125 for my CCW class then another $125 for the county fees for the license to be processed and my back ground check and prints to be ran. Then about 6weeks - 6 months I get the actual CCW. Then you can just walk in and purchase, walk out with heat.

Might not be as bad down there... FL has gotten pretty good with their gun laws. They were the state that started the "castle laws" as well. All Aces in my book.

Nice! Make sure you let us know how you like it. I want a .40 for my next handgun. (It's about the only caliber my husband and I don't have). We were at the range recently with my husband's recently-acquired CZ .45, and wow, is that nice!

Nice purchase. I went to a local gunshow yesterday and picked up a few things. No guns...just ammo and related items.

I've had my CCW permit for several years.

I'd rather have it and not need it than to need it and not have it.

Just be sure you CC is good in all the states you are going through. Don't wanna cause any unnessary problems for yourself.

I highly doubt we'd really be trying to carry it as a CCW... loaded and on our person... More like packed in the bike, unloaded, with everything else.

Very very true

But there are sites out that tell you what's what. And there is a fed law trying to be passed that would end that as well.

if i was riding a down payment on a nice home i would be packing too

Exactly! Even though you can't protect for property... remember... a dead bad guy can't testify. And he said he was "going to kill you for that bike" :panic::whistle:
