Not that any of y'all actually missed me.. but I'm back from 3 weeks of pre-mobilization training. I'm a few injuries richer, but it was worth it for the amount of training that we got in a short period of time.
I didn't really have the opportunity to take a lot of good pictures.. and the new Kodak ZX-1 I had ordered right before I went to PMT decided to get a short in it and drain batteries within 5 minutes.. so video was pretty much out, too. Not to mention certain things we weren't allowed to photograph.. but I did my best with my limited resources (read: iPhone  ).
Pic 1 - My best friend for 3 weeks (for the uninitiated.. M4 Carbine w/ ver. 4 Aimpoint CCO "red-dot" sight).
Pic 2 - Mark 19 familiarization.
Pic 3 - My zero card (don't ask me what happened on my 5th shot group.. got lazy I guess, lol).
Pic 4 - Combat Lifesaver (CLS) class, the instructors were demonstrating initiating an IV/Saline lock.
Pic 5 - Yours truly.

I'd love one of those Aimpoints, please. Maybe the next time you are in training you could "find" one for me? After all, my taxes helped pay for it.
Welcome back, and as always, thanks.
Say, why are you wearing knee pads and the guy behind you isn't? LOL

Blank adapter. It was part of our "uniform" unless we were actually qualifying with real rounds.
Glad your home...:) when's the next happy hour?
You tell me!! Although as I found out Sunday, 3 weeks of zero alcohol means my tolerance dropped significantly. I had one beer at the Saucer with Tracy and was already feeling the effects. :panic:

I'd recommend an ACOG before the CCO, really.. no batteries, has some magnification.. once you know how to use it, it's a lot more useful than the CCO. And IIRC, it doesn't have that issue with 50m parallax that the CCO does (although I didn't have one, didn't get to shoot with one, so I could be wrong on that part).
As for the guy behind me, edit: They're around his ankles, lol.. a lot of people were doing that whenever we were just marching somewhere because ultimately a lot of them slip off your knees when you walk anyway (even if you cinch 'em down to where they cut off circulation).

Are you okay from your "injuries"? How does that get fixed? :tremble:

I'll tell you the difference next month. We go to AT next week and will be qualifying with both the CCO's and ACOG's.
From handling them, I like the ACOG's better. If i'm going to look through a scope, I want magnification damnit!

Everyone I've talked to who has fired both has preferred the ACOG. For one, no batteries = bonus. Although I've also heard that, at least with the ver. 4 CCO (the one that takes one AA battery), the batteries last forever.. :idk:
I'm happy either way.. even though I had like 7-8 misfeeds when I went through qualification, I was a first time go. I'm not sweating my score.. I'll probably have to requalify with a totally different weapon once we actually mobilize anyway.

Glad you're home in mostly one piece :D
I'll take the Aimpoint anyday, but I've not used a newer ACOG, last one was probably 8 yrs ago or so and it was not very "clear" to me. In low light it would have sucked I think, it was on an MP5 from an ATL SWAT Team. I have a COMP M2 on my rifle and I love it!! No parallex issues that I've ever seen.
Nice group other than the flyer though :dthumb: Do y'all shoot ball ammo for qualifying or the plastic bullets? Our Reserve unit went to the plastic bullets for qualifying and I never shot expert with them. Never didn't shoot expert with ball ammo and only missed expert by one round once on the M9.
I want to shoot the M19!!!!!!!!!!!! Please please please please  I had an invite to go qualify at Ft Benning with our Security Forces once but my unit didn't have the funds to put me on orders just to go play with heavy weapons :( I would have gotten to qualify on the M50, M204, SAW (I did get to shoot a SAW once though at Dobbins) and I don't know what other weapons they were going to qualify on. I wanted to go bad!!

The newer ACOGs are apparently pretty good. They have the tritium in 'em now for low light conditions.. but I haven't fired with one, so I have no personal experience. The CCO did fantastic on day, NBC, and night fire, so I'm definitely a fan.
And yes, we do shoot ball ammo for zeroing and qualification. I didn't get to shoot the Mk19 other than at the EST 2000, but they were practically begging to get people to shoot the Mk19.. one of our LTC's volunteered for it since no one else wanted to (I would have, but I had to do the CLS class).

Blank adapter, it keeps all of the crap that flies out of your barrel when shooting blanks from ending up in someone's eyes. Oh and it makes cleaning your weapon oh so much more fun!
Oh oops she answered your question already, sorry!

It also creates the backpressure necessary to eject the blank round when you fire blanks (if you don't crank the blank adapter down enough, it'll misfeed a bunch).
Isn't your injury dangerous until it gets fixed? Sorry I actually want to see it, I've never seen one in that state before.
Anyway I'm not an M4 fan to begin with, yes it has all the cool gee wizzz gadgets, is lighter, and shorter/smaller, but I still prefer the old M16, although I prefer some small modifications to make it a little more use friendly, like the front handgrip, and the collapsible butt stock.

No. It's a saline implant.

So far seems to be more of a slow leak than anything else. It happened during combatives.. guy put all his weight on top of me, and it was just right (or just wrong?) to cause a pop. And yes, am still a little sore, but nothing like I was the first day.. especially with wearing the IBA and whatnot. They gave me legal narcotics for it, so I managed to get through the last week of training.
Tigger, it was only one side, and it really isn't anywhere near that extreme. But thanks for playing. :dthumb:
Yeh Tigger, I just wanted to see HER boobies, that was completely uncalled for
