some of you may recall these blasphemous things.
i got some antique peeps looking at these pics telling me they are 3-500 range each, which is interesting.... now only if i can sell them!

no shit...try calling up a consignment shop...see what they'll do, we usually charge 10% when someone wants to put a bike in here. get some concrete prices on them and give it a shot

Good choices.

I stumbled across this site the other day.

http://www.mirrormate.com/?_ixref=mmgmirror_mate&gclid=CPrK0o6Ko5sCFQmbnAodOlp9Aw

A cheap way to spruce up a bathroom.

AquaPython
06-24-2009, 10:13 AM
thanks, yea the bathroom we just wanted something simple and clean - the hallway looks nice by itself, but the style and color will match the rest of the stuff we are going to do.

AquaPython

cool about the mirrormate thing, but that bathroom is not getting touched this year i dont think. i expect it would cost ~8 grand to do anything worthwhile in there. all of that yellow tile has to be pulled out, then there is the yellow tub.... big project there.

Bathrooms are pricey.

Another thing to consider is painting the tiles.

My parents had it done at their condo. The bathroom is white. You'd never know unless I told you that the tiles and tub were once brown.

AquaPython

same paint would work on the tub too ? probably that same ceramic porcelain material, no ?

Yes same paint.

I don't know if it is something you can buy yourself but I know there are companies that specialize in tile and tub repainting.

It's a hell of a lot cheaper and easier than gutting the whole room.

Looks great Mikey. After watching a shitload of HGTV, the experts have taught me that changing out the lighting alone makes a huge difference.

DVR a show called "Save My Bath" for inspiration.

Looking good.

It's a shame you couldn't integrate the humidistat with the new thermostat.

I wonder if they make an affordable all-in-one?

spent the last 4 days busting my ass on my house. i am ready for my upcoming vacation!
pics coming shortly

in wall speaker system 99% done
walls patched , sanded and ready for primer , 80% done.
removal of "grandma's window treatment" done.
paint samples purchased , applied, paints selected. done.
removal of glass sliding doors. done.
removal of sliding door frames (which rest on an, internal / external concrete wall. done.

however the last one left a whole new side project:
filling in the gaping holes in the archways (2x) with joint compound. first coat applied.

and in the meantime, toilet broke, sink doesnt drain because there is no drain stopper and H dropped a toothpaste cap down it. im surprised it took a year for one of us to drop something....
so, new toilet fill valve. done.
new toilet lever, that doesnt flop around. done.
cut away old glued sink trap and replace with removable one. done.
install new sink drain stopper. done.

total so far $1004.29

Congrats on the progress!

I didn't realize you were removing the sliders.

Are you putting in French doors or just making them passage ways?

Is the Florida room insulated well enough for that?

What about the sliders to your room, did you take those out too?

thanks!'
leaving it open, its a very nice feel, and keeps that room cooler (rest of house temp). better for computing and the fishtank as well.

leaving the sliding door on the bedroom.

was up to 2 am last night finishing the prep, priming and painting (with H) the master bed and master closet. H took these pics with her iphone (crappy) , and got the now-too-warm-toned flouresents blaring in the shot. i adjusted that pic a little bit to match the first one. i will take better pics later, still need to do the white trim, but that is after we are done with the rest of the painting.

still working on the archways with joint compound - hopefully just one more coat (i was going to add water for the last coat and mix it. any one done this ? )

still need to get the rest of the paint and primer, but total so far:
$1092.85
