So as I was perusing the TV tonight I came across the classic 80s Cold War film "Red Dawn". I loved this movie when I was a kid and still enjoy watching it to this day. Anyway, since it was on cable they had the two hosts between commercials talking about the movie and actors. Like most, I wasn't paying attention to them until I heard the magic Hollywood word...REMAKE! Those whacked out idiots are remaking this classic movie to be released in 2010. Can you believe this shit...not only are they remaking this but when I was looking for confirmation I also saw that they are going to remake Robocop...WTF? Did the drugs in Hollywood run out? These morons can't come up with an original idea? This is never going to end...what's next Casablanca...Gone With the Wind.

rant over

i wonder if they will still use russia as the enemy? That's retarded though, they will just ruin it.

I am not sure they can ruin Robocop, even though I love that movie, it's absolutely terrible.

Sounds like these guys need that too. when red dawn came out russia and cuba were viable threats. North koreans and radical muslims havent shown much that they could mount an invasion of the continental US.

ok, hollywood is officially worthless now. dumb bastards cant come up with fresh ideas so they gotta remake classics that are pretty damn good.

If they decide to do a remake of the godfather, I'm gonna be fucking PISSED. thats like one of the coolest movies of its time, EVAR. not to mention fucking long.

It's right up there with sending a drilling team to an asteroid.

anyways...
gotta make sure that the kids are diverse this time around....
The dumb white guy
The tough as nails black girl with lots of sass.
The spanish girl who dies midway through the film
The Jew who talks fast and complains a lot
The funny black guy
The white girl who comes up with a plan
The asian guy
The young <insert minority here> who plays a nerd\hacker type
A girl or a minority will be the lead hero (95lbs soaking wet if a woman and can shoot a M249 one handed while screaming rambo style) or preferable a female minority.

You know I've been hearing people say that "Hollywood has ran out of ideas" for years now but then every year I see the same amount of enjoyable movies. Maybe its just me but there seem to be plenty of good movies to go around.

Loved Red Dawn back in the day, a remake should be interesting but I won't get my hopes up.

And in other news Hollywood as a whole admits that they actually have ran out of good ideas, and now have moved on to the crappy ideas. In a stunning move which hollywood expects to be stunningly genius although widely accepted as just plain stupid the mega studios have announced that instead of just making reboots of good movies they will now start making reboots of bad movies in an attempt to make things right. The first two movies to be created under this new concept will be The Hottie And The Nottie starring Paris Hilton, will be remade as The Hottie And The Nottie starring Paris Hilton. The second movie to be remade will be Gigli featuring Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck, starring them again. A source at MGM said "We messed up pretty bad with these two films the first time, I truly don't believe that we can make anything as bad so as far as I am concerned we have no where to go but up".

I'm sorry guys this isn't news. How many versions of "Romeo and Juliet" have there been? Almost every movie ever made can be traced back to a core story idea that has been used before. Hell, a decent percentage of books/stories/movies can be traced back to Bible stories and most Bible stories are rip offs of previous religions... There is truly nothing new under the sun my friends.

I agree with both of these statements.

I honestly don't think that they ever had any original ideas. Think of any of your favorite movies and I guarantee that it's a ripoff of a book.

They've been out of ideas for a couple of decades, at least. My friends always make fun of me when another movie comes out and I say that it's just a remake of a Kurosawa film from the '50s or '60s. (Yojimbo = Last man Standing, Magnificent Seven = Seven Samurai) They've so run out of ideas that they're only reaching back as far as the -70s and '80s now. No one else noticed that "Pelham 123" is just a remake of a classic '70s film "The Taking of Pelham 123"?

And they're knocking off English TV programmes too. Did anyone else know that "The Office" was originally done in England, with a different cast? How about "Life on Mars"?

And then we have "Land of the Lost"; a remake of a campy '70s Saturday morning live action kids' show. Now it's intentional and ham-handed slapstick comedy, rather than the unintentional stuff that the original had.

i wonder if they will still use russia as the enemy?

I'm sure it'll involve America being at fault and we'll win but at the end we'll come to realize our faults and become one with the world and sing kumbaya with everyone in peace.

I don't pay attention to new movies much. Besides cheesy ass comedies like Mall Cop or the Hangover is there an original movie that is actually good?
