Have a question for those of you that stand on their feet all day.

What shoes do you wear?

I'm working at a job that I stand in one place 8 hours a day. Literally, I don't move unless it's break time or lunch. My feet have become the appendages from hell, and before I go to a podiatrist, I wanted to know who's wearing what.

I bought a pair of Ecco's but they made my feet hurt worse than my high dollar New Balance's did.

Depends on what you need for style.
My mom has issues with her feet, and her doc told her wear New Balance shoes all the time, and oNLY new balance.

I wore ecco's or Docs when I worked at the dealership.

Now I wear combat boots.

Birkenstocks FTW! Custom fit..ugly as hell, but worth the 3-4 hundred you'll pay.

You gonna get me some too?

I looked at those, seems they only have open heeled varieties.

And no, the bank won't loan me anymore money to get you a pair. :bonk:

The problem I'm having with tennis shoes is that they point me downhill all day. I need shoes that are level.

Forgot the name, but tried some on that the heel is lower than the sole. Felt REALLY weird!

I'm usually wearing a pair of Corcoran Machs, which are SUPER comfy, nd can probably pass for casual if you're careful.

Sears sold a pair of side zip boots I love too, decent looking and quite comfy.

I've ALWAYS been a boots guy, but then again, what I'm into doing for work, boots are most suitable. custodians or mechanics shouldnt be working in fancy shoes.

I'm only 23 and my feet hurt during work. With my slip on boots I wear them two sizes too big. I put in a gel insole and an arch insole. Glue them down or they'll move on you.

With tennis shoes I just do my best.

I tried that also. I'm afraid I'm going to have to cough up more than $20 to fix this problem. :hangman:

get fitted for insoles and if you dont need steeltoes, look at any specialized comfort shoe

what do you do to have to stand in one spot that long?

I ship prescriptions to veterans. Stand in front of a table with a conveyor full of totes to my left. Scan the scripts, bag the items, grab the next one. 2300 a day. :hangman:

But it pays well! :D

Ive heard a lot of good things about Nikes new Air Max 360 series of shoes, but I think they start at $160 a pair. I really like nike shox but Im currently using a pair of new balances (first pair Ive ever owned from NB) and theyre pretty good so far. Ill probably go back to shox though, I used to wear them for literally hundreds of miles of running every track and cross country season and loved them.

Go to a proper shoe store fitting place :) Orthodics are a great idea. I also wear Dansko's to work. They have different styles

Also, go to Walmart and buy some support socks (ones that go up to your knees). They're in the sock section up here (like 5 bucks). They will help with proper circulation to your feet/legs. They will help with the fatigue.

Also.. I don't stand in one place at work but move on my feet for 12 hours. I've never found any running shoe to be worthwhile. They wear out quickly and you "should" replace them like every 6 months or something like that. So just save the coin you'd be spending on some running shoes and get fitted for a proper pair of shoes designed for your job :)

I wouldn't necessarily go with any particular brand, but I would get a shoe that is custom fit - go to a real shoe shop (if you can find one... seems rare these days) and then get some inserts that are custom fit to you as well (not the kind you can get at Wal-Mart).

New Balance are the most comfortable shoes for me. Try wearing wing tips all day. I don't stand all day but even sitting down they are not comfortable.

Try a pair of Simpson Racing crew shoes. They weigh nothing and have soft soles. Barring that, go for a pair of Dr. Scholl's Tri-Comfort cushioned insoles.

Looked at shoes today. Ended up buying Klogs. Feet are tired, but not in as much pain. I officially have old lady shoes now. :hitfan:

Z-coil. I guess its worth a shot.

I'm pretty much flat footed. My dad had x-rays done to his feet and he has tons of tiny tiny fractures all in his feet bones. He can have surgery to fix it (dont know how), but he'd have to be off his feet for 6 months. As you can guess he's never had the surgery.

You cant beat a good pair of Tiddie Sandals. I have the 3 layer one and when they are new they are SSSSSSSSSSOOOOOOOOOOO comfortable.

Those look comfy Fleck. I was going to suggest SAS Factory Brand shoes. They are kind of pricey but super comfortable. Erik bought a pair and absolutely loves them. Says they are the kind of shoe you could wear all day and not get tired.

I tried a pair but the insole hit me in the wrong area for my arch. Otherwise I would be an owner too.

They are handmade in Texas.

You can try going to the Foot care section of walmart. Many of them have a foot testing machine that will tell you if you foot has arch issues or is pronated. It will recommend an orthotic insert that you can buy there. They are a little price but less than new shoes and you can always return them. Walmart will take anything back.

Those are nationwide? I had no idea. They are awesome. That is all my mom wore when we were kids and she worked three jobs. :dthumb:

We have a factory outlet store about 10 minutes from my house and I think there is another one down between Columbus/Cincinnati area. So I guess so.

Alot of the ladies have already seen these in the ladies area...but I just started using these. I am loving them, and if I could wear them to work I would. If it doesnt matter what they look like, and you just need feet coverings, read some info and the research on these types of shoes. Also, check out the ladies "barefoot running" thread for additional details.

Ugly as hell, but the health benefits are worth it.
