Michael Jackson Dies
Posted Jun 25th 2009 5:20PM by TMZ Staff
Michael JacksonWe've just learned Michael Jackson has died. He was 50.
Michael suffered a cardiac arrest earlier this afternoon and paramedics were unable to revive him. We're told when paramedics arrived Jackson had no pulse and they never got a pulse back.
Michael is survived by three children: Michael Joseph Jackson, Jr., Paris Michael Katherine Jackson and Prince "Blanket" Michael Jackson II.
Jackson had 13 number one hits during his solo career.
I'm pretty sure most people with MJ's parents and childhood would've been a freak too.

Yeah... I'm sure they're relieved to have their Dad, whom they loved, die suddenly like that. Now they can go out and live that "normal" life everyone's talked about and taunted them with.
Sorry, but no matter how this played out, they'll be in therapy for a while.
I highly doubt they had the same perception of their Dad as a majority of the public did (meaning, viewing him as a freak, etc.) I mean, they're 5, 9 and 10. At that age, most of us weren't aware of our parents faults to the extent that the "outside" world saw them.
I think they're going to be horribly devestated by their Dad's death. I'm not sure "normal" will ever play a major role in their lives.
And that is sad too. :(

Funny you should mention that.
I worked for MJ's production company during the Victory Tour, and once again in Germany, in '97, (I was a stage carpenter/rigger for about 7 years).
The German gig had dudes with video cameras, that up-linked to the giant on-stage rear projection screens. I overheard MJ telling the Production manager, that he wanted shots of the crowd on screen, but ONLY closeups of kids who were crying. The boy had issues...
One of my fondest memories actually has nothing to do with MJ, but it took place at the very first Victory Tour meeting for crew. Rewind back to 1984...
The tour was huge. 14 Semi's of light, sound and stage, plus two bob-tails just for wardrobe. I'm sitting in a bungalow next to stage 3/8, surrounded by fellow roadies "Lurch", "Animal", "Spider", "Slits" (half Korean, half Irish truss monkey) and "Batman" (you don't want to know why he was called that, trust me) and the other 90 some-odd crew members and drivers.
In walked the suit. This is a corporate tour, sponsored by Pepsi and Nike. It's been a long time, but the jist of his little speech, was that the music business was moving towards a more "family oriented" direction, and as such, drug use by the crew would not be tolerated.
We sat in respectful silence.
Until they left.
Lurch, who was the head roadie in charge, had this to say;
"Everybody got that?"
"Yep", we all replied.
"Good, whose got blow?"
Several hands went up...

I always found it funny that no parent was ever held responsible for basically handing their kid over to him. But if you're lookin' for an easy million (and you have no morals) maybe that way beats legitimatly playin' the lottery.
And, true... he was never convicted, but really... you'd let your kid play over there? Sleep in his bed??!
*Note: that wasn't meant to be read into that those that play the lottery have no morals. Just to clarify. 'Cuz I know someone would read it that way.*

This is barely a step above a non-story. The only thing separating this from the guy in the next town kicking off from a heart attack is name recognition. It's unfortunate for his family and friends, but in a day or two, people will go back to not giving a shit because American Idol starts their auditions for the next group of hacks, or scientists will discover that too much fudge is bad for you, or some hillbilly in Fish Guts, Arkansas taught his dog how to yodel while him and his buddy play Dueling Banjos.

And so what's wrong with people wanting to take a little time to say, "Awww... that's sad. Grew up on his music..." etc.
If no one did that, you'd be posting up how callous people are to not even care that "so & so died".
And he did have the best selling album in history (over 52 million copies of "Thriller" sold). I wouldn't call it a "non event". I'd call it, someone who was the biggest selling musical artist died unexpectedly today. Lots of people affected and influenced by the music he made.
Just because you weren't a fan, doesn't make it a non-event.

I'll put it like this... his death, though sad, came 10 or so years too late.
He had real talent in his younger years, but it seems like (whether verifiable or not) his freakish behavior and appearance became what he was most known for in recent years.
His philanthropy will, hopefully, outlive him by a good many years... his reputation... not so much.
RIP KoP

People die. Not only do people die, people die of heart disease in staggeringly high numbers. Hell, it's one of the leading causes of death in the United States. He's had continual health problems in addition to high levels of stress from various public occurrences. That his heart didn't pop like a zit soooner is more surprising than him kicking off at 50. Has nothing to do with being a fan or not being a fan. He died of one of the most common killers. His greatness is subjective. His mortality was always a definite.

Anyone else wondering who is going to have the Beatles' rights now?
Yes, it will probably be his estate for a while.
If I would guess, he didn't have a will, and there is going to be an extended legal battle over the children as to who gains custody over them, and power over his estate until they turn 18, think Anna Nichole Smith. Rather, I would be suprised if he had a will

Was talking about it with my neigbor and it just seemed to fit the family. At the very least a will that is obscure enough to be legally questionable. His father will sue, the lawyers will sue, and so will every Tom Dick and Harry who has any connection to him, including the nurse who birthed his kids.
I also don't think that he lived in the world of normal for a long time. Any legal advice he recieved was questionable at best, probably to keep him happy and to keep his "people" employed. He has lived in a fantasy world for a long time and reality is not something that he knew too much of.

While I will acknowledge that he made an amazing contribution to music, I will also state and don't care if its popular to say this or not, that what he contributed to music is not half as important as the fact that he was a pedophile. And the fact that he dangled his baby from a balcony. And the fact that he used his friendship with Paul McCartney to get the rights to the Beatles catalog KNOWING that Paul had planned to get the rights himself when he was finally able to.
I have empathy for the life he was "forced" to lead as a child/adolescent. I have no empathy for his not making better choices thereafter. NO ADULT IN THEIR RIGHT MIND says the LOVE sleeping with kids. Even if it means sleeping. I love kids, but I tell ya what, sleeping with them, even my own, is a PITA. They hog the bed, they kick and elbow, they (some anyway) wet the bed, they get cranky 'cause they are over-tired and don't want to fall asleep. Yeah, that's fun. NOT!
And no, I wasn't there when he molested children, but, give me a fucking break. One does NOT settle two accusations of molestation with large sums of money, if one did nothing wrong. That's just shit.
Just my 2 cents. So its sad for his kids to not have a healthy daddy in their lives as they grow up, but they never really did. I firmly believe they will stand a better chance at "normal" without him than they did with him.

LOL we were talking tonight about who's gonna be coming out of the wood work for his funeral and I brought up Webster! LOL, Haven't seen him in years.
I'd assume that someone with so much has some type of will (I've never believed the claim he was broke, the broke people I know can't afford to rent a home in the Holmby Hills area, and that's just for starters). Interesting to see what happens, seeing as how the mother (and I use that term loosely) of 2 of his kids legally signed away all her right to the kids years ago and who knows who the mother of his youngest is (but safe to assume he had her sign away also).
Guess I'm looking at it a little different. It's not for me to judge anymore, I think that judgement took place today around 12 noon (pst) after attempts at recessetation didn't help. Hope he made things right before that took place (if he had the time to do so).
Now I just sit back and say... he made some great songs, provided many hours of dancin' at the club to stupid songs with great beats. And although many people die of heart disease every day, I can't say the same about them.
