wow you ride slow enough for people to pass you

:snort:

it's ok for bikes to pass people in the HOV , but not vice versa ?

It's not ok for either to pass each other in the hov lane... I was on the right side of the lane (position 1 if you will) and he passed me on my right, forcing me over to the left... it's only one lane...

I'm a big fan of the "ride faster to stay alive" philosophy of riding...but I know that'll getcha fined in the Dallas HOV lanes.

woah, if he got close enough to pass that hard i woulda slowed to a crawl, done it before.

Its more satisfying to knock their mirror off when they pass you though!

This was on 35 near 635, I was doing more than the speed limit before he "appeared" in the HOV lane behind me. Then came hauling ass up to me, slightly moved over and passed me...

I had an asshole in a Camry try to pass me on the left shoulder while I was in the leftlane of I-35W near alliance...I was doing what Ed said and slowing down while he refused to get off my ass. I even motioned to him nicely to back off.

He was about a foot from me so I reached out and knocked his mirror off before lanesplitting to an open spot and taking the next exit.

I fucking hate people.

If you live in a lane splitting state... yes.

But cars are never allowed to split lanes.

Glad you're alright, Lucky.

How do people ride a motorcycle and knock a car mirror off?
Especially a Camry?

I never tried it...but I would think that you have to really wack that thing to break it off.
Are we talking about the housing or just the mirror?

I'm pretty strong and I think I think I could do damage if I were in put in that situtation but jeez.

At the very least that would leave your hand sore.

What if you hit it right on the edge...
I don't think a sore hand is worth it.

Not judging anyone else...just saying

I always wear hardcore race gloves...I'm paranoid about my hand.

I simply leaned over and struck the top of his mirror in a downward striking motion. it didn't come all the way off....it was held on by the power mirror wires.

Didn't leave my hand sore.

I've gotten a mirror, a back window and left a huge dent in a SUV before myself, didn't feel a thing...:rockwoot:

For those people who have knocked off mirrors...have you considered the damage they may cause other drivers on the road who are doing nothing wrong and just driving down the road? Not judging - just asking?

I can imagine it would feel good to damage the car of some asshole endangering your life....but what if the mirror bounces and nails some other driver's windsheild? Or dents the fender or hood of their car? Of if some other vehicle ends up driving over it or they try to swerve to avoid driving over it and possibly cause an accident? Just wondering out loud. :idk:

If I knock your mirror off, I'm not too worried about damaging you car. And there's shit in the road all the time like tire carcasses from 18 wheelers, 2x4s that fell out of someones pickup, nails, screws, sparkplugs. I've seem all of these. A mirror is just one more thing to add to the list of shit on the roads.

I don't have a problem with someone legitmately (sp?) passing me, but I do have a problem with someone passing me illegally and/or presenting a danger to me, like in Lucky's original post

I'm not talking about damaging the car that the mirror was knocked off of....I'm talking about the other motorists sharing the road with you and the asshole that you knocked the mirror off of.

Typically they don't come off. YOu will either just break the mirror itself, it could come off and hang by the wire (which is even better cause its not scratchin their door too), or on allot of trucks/suvs, they will just fold (which I hate but it still sends the message).

I have also kicked at a door and a tail light. Got to watch kicking though... I kicked a construction barrel once in PA on while doin about 25 on the 9R and damn near knocked myself right off the bike.

Good point - didn't think about the wiring harness for the motors.

Lee, the wiring harness held the mirror on....but that was definitely not in my train of thought at the time.

However, fear of damaging an innocent person's car is why I don't throw ball bearings. The last time I did it a few years ago one of the bearings clearly bounced off the windshield and landed behind the offending vehicle. Didn't hurt anyone's car, but only because I was lucky enough there was nobody back there.

My new bike isn't really fast enough to guarantee I can outrun every car on the road so I have to be a bit more timid.

Arguing with a 4-wheeler is something that you'll never win. I find that a cell phone gives satisfaction, though it may be of the delayed sort.

Completely disagree.

1.) I've never lost an "argument" with any cage I've decided needed a shiny new dent or to donate a mirror to the highway department. Always have an escape route.

2.) Don't believe in calling the police. Completely pointless and a waste of my minutes.
