Yea there's a guy that was selling one that had a Yosh full system, air filter, jet kit, rear seat cowl, alarm and a tinted windscreen. He only wanted $400 more than this chick but my gf decided she wanted this one.:idk: I think that she's just tired of looking/waiting basically. Oh well, mama's happy-daddy's happy!!!:rockwoot:

It's actually another post we found today. The bike has less than 2,000 miles and the girl took $2850 so we said fuck driving another 20 miles to Raleigh!

Cute little bike....

I'd like one just 'cuz. We need a bigger garage though for all our toys.

They'd be fun to outfit for the track. Super slow across the front and back straight, but a giggle none-the-less.

I think I day dreamed of smaller, cooler CC bikes when I was first getting into motorcycles that I just can't drop this desire to own one even if it would be a bit "boring" at times.

how hard is it to register grey market bikes in canada? if its easier than it is here id seriously consider importing an rgv250 or similar 2 stroke from the early nineties. def fix the speed problem

Oh yea, now I'd love to own a 2-stroke again! My old 350 was awesome to ride and the best teacher of throttle control I've ever had, apart from the V-Max that is!

Its been a few days since we had a good arguement here that didnt involve child molestors.

Nope, I have had her one the back and have been trying to point out "accident avoidance" techniques to her though. I'm trying to avoid putting anything in her head that might conflict with what she's gonna learn from MSF. I want her to get any "benefit" that can be had from it before I am forced to teach her "reality based" riding skills. Besides, if you haven't noticed, some of these MSF coaches have a "I'm right about everything" type of attitude and I don't want her to fail the class.

Exactly! We've had couples actually "virtual argue" on this board before... No thanks, we almost never argue so far, I see no reason to do anything that could instigate an argument. In a nut shell, she has nothing to gain by joining and more importantly, I have nothing to gain by her joining so why do it?!?

СПЛОШНАЯ ПАКОСТЬ, this is the gear she wanted and it's all Scorpion/Joe Rocket brand. Not the best but at least she'll wear it. If it were left to her she wouldn't wear any gear and ride her over sized scooter in shorts, a tank top, a brain bucket on her head and her Armani sunglasses on her face! Fuck, she rides her quad without any helmet. In fact, I don't believe she owns an off road helmet!

And no she's not a "squid" or any such thing! She's NORMAL, it's all you gear Nazis that are weird! You're like 1 in 10, seriously... I ride everyday, and if I see 20 bikes, maybe 2 had on any kind of jacket (nylon or mesh-zero leather), almost none wear actual riding boots and NOBODY wears leather pants or any type of leg gear. NOBODY... but me, so nyahh!

They all dress alike and claim non-conformity. Let's see...if I follow your group's ways then I am "thinking for myself" and "being my own man". If I do what the other group is doing then I am being a follower... hmmm. :lol:Besides, whether or not I wear gear has nothing to do with "popular opinion" and everything to do with my personal beliefs, wants and desires. I won't wear gear because you think I should and I won't not wear gear because Snigg doesn't.

Son, I don't need an "excuse" to not wear gear. That's what you don't understand. Anyway, what was your excuse for riding without gear again? Oh yea, "the bank is only a few blocks away" or something like that? What is so funny is that I wear a helmet, a leather jacket (way better protection than any nylon pos), gloves, boots, leg armor and kevlar jeans when I ride. When my girl rides she'll be wearing a helmet, a mesh jacket, gloves, jeans and boots. I'm sorry that isn't good enough for you.

It was neither an excuse or a reason. He was simply stating, that most gear nazis live on the internet. Which I also agree with. He said, the majority of people he sees do not wear it.

And this is one of the few places that people think you're retarded for not wearing an athletic supporter and hockey pads to ride.

Um...

* 17-inch wheels mount radial street rubber in 110 front and 140mm rear widths and help lower the seat approximately 1.4 inch compared to the WR250R.
* One-tooth smaller rear sprocket (13/42) works with the smaller-diameter tires to bring out the WR250X’s strong-accelerating character.
* Stiffer springs front and rear and street-oriented damping settings reduce pitch compared to the WR250R for excellent pavement performance.
* YZ/WR250-inspired semi-double-cradle frame uses a main frame of cast and forged aluminum sections, with high-strength steel downtube for excellent strength and rigidity characteristics.
* Asymmetrical swingarm provides excellent strength/rigidity balance and a dynamic look. Cast aluminum crossmembers, extruded arms and a 22mm rear axle are carefully tuned for optimum handling.
* Fully adjustable 46mm fork provides 10.6 inches of wheel travel. A forged lower triple clamp and a cast upper one help give outstanding front-end feel. An aluminum steering stem reduces weight.
* Linkage-mounted rear shock provides 10.4 inches of travel with adjusters for compression damping, rebound damping and spring preload—and features a 14mm rod and 46mm cylinder for excellent damping and fade resistance.
* Wave brake rotors front and rear, including a large, 298mm front disc, reduce unsprung weight and provide excellent performance. Rear pedal is forged aluminum.

Plus we figure that since her bike costs over $2,000 retail less (wow), that we'd go ahead and spend that money (plus whatever you have in yours) on upgrades!

Seriously, I'd go GS500F, DRZ400SM or something like that for $6,200, wow I had no idea!:panic: I would hope that your bike is faster/better for a third more money!!!!

17" wheels and the one tooth smaller on the rear sprocket gives the R/X identical final drive ratios.

The X has a larger front brake rotor and the suspension settings (clickers) are set differently than the R are from the factory.

Other than that, they are identical.

Oh yeah . . . nobody pays msrp for these things either. I got mine brand new for $4,299.

Speaking of gear... On the way home I saw a guy with a helmet and a spine protector on. That was it for gear - he was dressed in Khakis and a short sleeve shirt. :lmao: I just thought it funny because it gave the impression that only his head and spine were important!

Tigger I bought a good majority of my gear used from other women off the forum. I got my leathers for $125! :) That's just another option to keep the cost factor down!

Yea she doesn't want a leather jacket or a full leather suit to ride her EX250... Seriously, I had the same Joe Rocket Jordan jacket in pink leather even and she's like "Fuck That!". I'm sorry people but she's riding a 250, almost exclusively around town. For her this is literally a larger scooter and an accessory. She cared more about the color than anything else! I personally think she should have just kept her scooter but it was "too slow" so she decided to do this. She wanted a bike because they park right by school for $25 a year, otherwise you have to pay $500 a year to park across the street. Heck this bike will save her over $2500 in parking fees!:rockwoot: Look I know that some of you mean well and are coming from the best of intentions but seriously (and yes I've had and seen the injuries) not everyone needs to wear a full race get up every time they get on their bikes, I'm sorry.

I crashed twice on my 250 at about 45-50mph and thank GOD I had full leathers on. My friend just got a 250 the other day and had her first spill a week later on gravel. She is banged up pretty bad. Maybe Hurricane Heather can tell ya if getting hurt on a 250 is possible.

Please tell me you are just kidding with the "its a toy for her, she doesn't need protection" talk.

Do I wear full gear all the time? HELL NO. But to say that leather is over kill is crap. If she/you don't want to wear it, thats fine but don't say that a 250 is too small to hurt anyone. A woman on CF that lost her husband on hers might beg to differ.

You know, I am not a gear nazi, but I am amazed at how people seem to think that riding in town is safer than going out riding balls out in the country and such.

Tigger, I am not trying to change your mind or hers. I'm really not. But I got busted up pretty damn good on my 250, in town, two miles from my destination. Shit happens. It's best to be prepared than to have gravel cleaned out of your once very pretty skin.

Aw man, Cathy I know a guy that was killed on his 50cc scooter, heck I knew a kid that was killed on his bicycle. Besides, wasn't that guy wearing gear when he died? You know that when you see someone ride by on a scooter, you don't think that they should have on full gear, do you? Of course not. In fact most people don't even look twice when someone on a cruiser goes by without full gear. In fact, if you saw someone on a Harley buzz by wearing a race get-up, that would be remarkable wouldn't it? In fact if my gf had purchased a 250cc Vespa absolutely none of this gear talk would be happening at all would it? Okay, I am incredibly stupid but if I was riding this bike strictly around town, there is no way I would wear full gear. Again I'm sorry that I don't agree with you.

See but here's the thing. She didn't want to wear anything (seriously), I talked her into the jacket and gloves. Now I'm getting pressure for her to wear full leather gear. I have honestly gone faster on a four wheeler than she'll ever go on this bike. I know that there is danger even if she kept it to 25 mph and never took it out of 1st gear. I understand that but, girls, she is not going to ride to class wearing a full leather suit, regardless of the circumstances, period. Neither would I.

Those spine protectors and flak jackets are the cool thing down here. Every time I go out at night in downtown Ft. Lauderdale I see guys with just a helmet and a spine protector/impact vest or no helmet and and a vest on.

I know but they won't just leave me alone about it. It's like haven't you covered this shit before? Haven't I agreed that full gear is safer enough times? Yeesh! You know someone just accused me of ruining a thread but her I am on a MOTORCYCLE FORUM posting about a new bike and all anyone has to talk about is how she doesn't have enough gear, or her gear is too cheap, etc.

You know what you guys win! I'm joining what I suspect are the rest of the sheeple, me too crowd that goes along on these subjects but secretly does and wears whatever they want.

Ahem, my girlfriend wears a A* Octane full suit, SMX Plus boots and Gp Pro gloves whenever she rides. She's just finished her 5th track day and it was great! It is so well worth the money! It's too bad she's a girl and has too strong of a survival instinct to be competitive. She never speeds, does burnouts or wheelies because that would reflect badly on the motorcycling community as a whole. She thinks that GSXRs are the worst bikes ever and anyone who owns one is a squid. Finally, she agrees that the guy called Tigger on this forum is a complete douchebag for his beliefs and opinions. There that should cover it!

Tig I understand and respect that. I just don't want people reading this thread (and yes it may be more people than we think) that a 250cc 0-100mph motorcycle is too weak to hurt someone. I know you know that Tig but that is a misconception I hear all the time from people that actually believe it.

I actually heard a sales rep at our local honda dealer tell a guy buying a cruiser that "I ride a sportbike so I wear these armored guantlet gloves, but you are buying a cruiser I would recommend these fingerless gloves, they will keep the sweat off your hands" I couldn't believe my ears.

I think it kicks ass that your girl bought a bike and wants to ride, the world needs more women riders. I just think she should be fully aware of the risks, big fast bike or beginner bike, for injury. If she understands these risks and still wants to dress less, so be it. Shit I'm even anti-helmet law cause I hate the gov. telling me what gear to wear.

I just want new riders to be safe till they know what they are getting into.

She's a big girl and capable of making her own decisions like the rest of us, but....
If it were me, I'd suggest looking into some quality mesh/armored gear, with reinforced/leather impact areas. I have a Cortech GX Air which I believe to provide a pretty decent level of protection, and it feels like I turned on an air-conditioner once I'm over 20 or so. I think it's actually cooler than nothing but a T-shirt. Mesh overpants are also pretty convenient & quick to put on/take off, and if worn over shorts are probably better protection than jeans alone (certainly better knee protection). Like I said though - her decision, and just my suggestion.

I don't wear full-leather 'around town' either, and don't blame her for not wanting to. But she really should understand the potential risk accurately - 'around town' and as a new rider is where she's most likely to take a spill and roadrash/busted-up joints are exactly the same for 30hp bike riders as 150hp bike riders, after all.

True and 25 mph is 25 mph not matter what you are riding. Whether it be a bicycle or a MV Agusta. When in actuallity, all you (collective you) are really doing is stopping people from contributing and posting anything like this again.

How dare he show us something that makes him happy and not expect to get shit on?

I know you (actual you) mean no harm. It just gets old. There are very few new riders here from what I can tell. Also, myself and many others refuse to be some form of role model for newbies. If they want to learn, feel free to ask questions. Most people will answer them. But, why would I even pretend to be something I'm (collective I'm) not?

People ask me all the time what kind of bike they should get. I always tell them to steer clear of a SS and to be smart. That doesn't mean I'm going to go up to every newbie on an SS and beat his head in because he didn't listen to advice.

So.. In short, solicited advice=good..

Exactly, when I met her last year, her mind was set on getting a 600. As I got to know her better, she asked my opinion and I asked her some questions about her experience and what she was trying to do. I suggested the 250. She looked at it and said "No fucking way, it's ugly!". I showed her some other small bikes and it kinda sat there. Well here came Kawasaki with a decent looking beginner bike and she was in.

She has seen my scars and she is no stranger to injury. This is no Polly Anna here! I will not make a hypocrite of myself because she is a new rider. I will not tell her something that I myself don't believe. Now I have to leave and go get this dog! See ya!

I wouldn't get on a scooter or a cruiser without wearing the same as i do now. An accident is an accident no matter what type of two wheeler you are on. So whoever was giving Shane crap and gave Eric and Amorok a pass obviously wasn't too bright. As for a bicycle, never gave much thought to that, why use man power when i can use a motor

You can still get hurt going 25 mph. People blow stop signs and lights all the time, the dreaded left turn into your path, non to mention getting hit at the parking lot, etc. Heck you can get rear ended just by sitting at the stop light!

I mean she is wearing something...She's not on there with a tank and flip flops. I wear mesh in the summer, i know its a one time crash jacket, and not as durable as leather or even a tighter textile weave, but i'll get another one if and when that happens.

The speed limit is 25 or 35 the entire 4 or 5 miles and takes a good 10-15 minutes every morning no matter what we drive/ride.:idk: Hell, I've taken her in her Porsche and it takes 10-15 min.:panic: I think I made it in under 10 one time when we were running late put I was asking for it!

Liars, or people who never make such short trips in the first place.

IMO it's not impressive for someone to say they wear full gear all the time, when "all the time" means only weekend rides.

Exactly! I'm on a local board and we have our share of "gear Nazis"/full leathers guys. Try getting them to go on a ride when it's over 85 degrees... no fucking way! Guess what? It's 80+ plus here for 3 months in the Summer. I can't tell you how many AGATT guys I've met with under 10,000 miles on 5 and 6 year old bikes. AGATTOIDRAA...All Gear All The Time Or I Don't Ride At All!

Yea, I honestly believe that she is wearing appropriate gear for the type of riding she is doing. It's just that simple.

Plus, its her skin.

It all rots the same in a box. The maggots will eat it, road rashed or not.

Her decisions, and she'll live or die by them. I cant tell you how many times ive ridden in boots, gloves, sunglasses, and a half helmet, t-shirt, and jeans with a bandana over my mouth. While traffic around here is very low, im still taking a chance.

Though I cant say i'd aggressively ride a sportbike, in anything but jacket, gloves, full face and boots. All that is more than enough. I've never worn MC pants on the street ever. Im not about to tell anyone else they should.

And, the front of a truck doesnt hurt any less with a jacket.

:bs: 0-60 in ~5.5sec, 1/4mi in ~14.5 @ 88mph is pretty slow for a bike, and they have nothing under 10-grand or so - but I think you're exaggerating just a wee bit, no?

If you really can't hit 50 in a couple of blocks, you need to learn to rev & shift it, Nancy. :nee:

(Granted, riding 'normally' around town in the (lack of) midrange & having to rev the snot out of it to get any motivation at all would get kinda old.)
