I know its not a BIG deal to not have a dealership in your town but its nice know there's a place to take your bike to get fixed (if you cant do it) and someone there "MIGHT" (use might loosely) know how to work on your bike. Plus if you have a warranty what good is it if you cant get free labor out of it.

What I'm talking about if say you want an Aprilia. Well the closest place that sells them is 100 miles away or more. You buy one any ways. Just wondering if it's a concern or if it hasn't made a difference on you.

working on them is half the fun

O I know that. I'm just saying that if you need warranty work done on something that needs special tools that you absolutly cant do without then I'm just wondering what the bike owner does.

It's something those of us who don't have the time or tools to work on our bikes really reeeeeeally enjoy. :D

Me. My closest Buell dealer is an hour. Not awful distance...but not close. But I usually only go there for the free Buell loot and demo's.

My closest Buell dealer is 95 miles.

Deal made with the salesman and manager when I bought it, if it needs to come in, they pick it up and drop it off at my house. It works great so far. I may be without the bike for a day or two longer than if they were in town, but no worries about getting a ride from and to the dealership.

Thats one hell of a deal.

They bring a trailer to Fargo at least 3 times a week anyway. They sell more HD's to people in the Fargo area than the Fargo HD dealership.

I just swung it so they come to my place instead of me taking it to the drop off point (a trailer sales place the owner also has stock in).
If it works for me w/o inconvenience, I'll take it to the drop off point, or pick it up there, but if not... From my garage, to my garage :D

Funny you mention aprilia since I own one. I had a great shop/dealer that was 3 towns over, bu tthey got bough tout and dropped aprilia. Another shop picked up aprilia but have heard only horror stories about their service dept, sadly they were nearby.

I go to s shop thats about 70 miles away now but is well worth the trip. good mechanics and very customer friendly.

Many. This is a big deal/problem for big dog owners. But you buy what you want.

I'm pretty sure it's Black Dog Motorcycles.

You know what is worse than having a dealership close by? Having a dealership that isn't worth their weight close by....

I have very close dealership relationships. But, not with all brands. And, some are tragic to the point of me sending a motor off to get work done on it.... no, not Ducati.

Yeah when it gets closer I may see about meeting some big dog owners there... maybe before the rally.

My closest Triumph dealer by mileage was 70 miles away but factor in DC/NOVA beltway traffic and your 1.5 hours could easily be 3. I'm glad my Sprint 1050 is gone. One more piece of shorted wiring harness on that thing and it was going for a swim into the potomac.

First thing I thought when I saw the thread title was, "anyone who owns a Buell"

I think it's more model specific than it is manufactorer specific. My Hayabusa and SV650 had great fit and finish. Aside from that faux carbon shit Suzuki was putting on everything in the late 90s early 2ks that is.

The fit and finish on either of my YZF600s was poor. Thin pain and cheap plastic. Still loved the bikes though.
Fit and finish on my FZR600 was great.

my 07 Z1000R was great for fit and finish. Didn't have a bad piece on it. The Versys? looks poor from the cockpit.

This very question is exactly why last year when I was bike shopping I declined a great offer on a half faired duc 900ss. I loved the bike, but the support just wasnt there.

how far is your nearest dealer? but at least you can take it to a harley shop for warranty work.

The closest BMW shop to me is in Baton Rouge... 2 hrs west of me... I've called twice on friday night before they close to schedule a ride on an F800GS... both times they had one in... and when I showed up on sat... they were sold already. GHEY.

Hopefully I don't have many issues... 2hrs is a long ass ways for work.

Closest is an hour. White's HD/Buell in Lebanon, PA. Really good people, always treat me right when I do make the trip. Even did service for FREE because I came from so far away. Which was awesome of them. And a really good Buell dealer, which is the exact opposite of most Buell dealers. So I dont mind giving them business.

But, I would never take it to a normal HD shop for warranty work. I'd rather have Buell techs work on it. In fact, I did take it to White's last fall for a headlight recall.

You can't take it to a hd dealership for warranty work. Must be buell to get on the network and get the parts and training. Hd shop may do regular maintenance, but most don't want to as they are not trained.

That's why I bought the service manual, when I get back warranty will be expired so it won't see the dealership anymore

I've got the book too...but there are a few things you cant do with regular tools. Like a TPS reset. Thats what the dealer did for free for me. I could get ECMspy and do it...but I dont have any desire too. However, the 08 and up models can perform TPS reset without any tools.

Not me...I own 2 Yamaha's that were bought from a dealer that is about 5 miles from the house.

HOWEVER neither bike has been back to the dealership and I've owned them both for over 2 years.

I've done everything myself...so far but it is nice to know the dealership isn't that far away...just in case.

They also sell Aprilia...just in case I ever decide to get one.
