Is that an original or a new car built to old specs?

My friend Dave had to build his "old" car from scratch since the original was destroyed ( numerous times) from crashes.

Very cool

Jeff

This one is a original frame from the late fifties that was updated as it was raced. There are many spots on the frame that been changed over the years. Right now it has a pretty tame 383 with carb running on pump gas. It has no transmission only a clutch with a hand lever cause its only used to get it moving and its better just to push them off. In the first photo you can see the black hand lever on the far left. It can be started and driven with out a push truck thats why the clutch and not a in/out box.

This is mostly a trackday toy/show piece for my dad it will be at sandusky speedway in a few weeks for a for its first time out with my dad as the owner. My dad bought it in pieces, a guy had started to build it then deecided to sell it. Every thing on it is freashly rebuilt or new.

My dad has already found a different one he wans more that has lots more and better history. The other one is a big block car that has won the Oswego classic at least once.

My dad is real good friends with Gary Fedewa, he has several vintage cars one of which is a old Sammy Sessions indy roadster made into a supermod. Which has a alky injected aluminum big block with in/out box. I got to drive that for a few laps last summer. I can't wait to try my dads out.

I like the non winged sprints better but yeah they can get around a dirt track in a hurry. It's not uncommon to ride around the track on 3 wheels under acceleration.

I met a guy who has raced a slew of different types of cars. He specialized in SCCA, but has driven quite a few different race cars (including Indys) and he said by far the scariest vehicle he's ever sat behind the wheel of was an Outlaw

I have driven a sprint car during pactice before the race right after they watered the track. It was my 16th birthday present from the owner and it was scarry even going as slow as I was.

When I drove Garys car I was thinking it would be like driving a fast go-kart I was insanely wrong. Imagine if you can a Busa powered go-kart and your trying to drive it fast on a ice hockey rink with out hitting a wall or spinning out cause the car your driving is one of a kind.

I watched a 60 year old man that had his own sprint car, get tears in his eyes when he was told he could drive the car I just got out of. He was in tears when he came off the track. He had grown up watching Sammy Sessions race and never in his wildest dreams did he think he would get a chance to drive it. To me it was just another one of Garys cool cars I did not know the history of it at the time.

When I was young I wanted to race spring cars. My dad has a buddy who races them. They are pretty killer.

At I-96 speedway in Michigan in order to set a fast time in a sprint car you have to run the whole lap wide open this is on dirt. A friend of mine was telling me the first lap you do wide open is such a mind game cause every bone in your body wants to to lift off the gas for the turn.

I could not imagine running into a corner with my foot flat to the floor and just pitching the car sideways.

:iagree: When I was racing go karts, they changed the layout of the track. They put in a 90* right hand corner. My mind said " You HAVE to lift" but I knew I could take the corner wide open.

I just added an extra 1/4" of play in my brake pedal to "satisfy" my brain by touching the brake but didn't scrub any speed off.
