So, a while back our bathroom tiling in our shower started to cave in. We pulled a MacG. for a while, but eventually something had to be done.

Erik wanted to pay someone to do it, but I said no. I knew I could do it. He could pay me if he wanted to pay someone!

I'm pretty happy with my first tiling job and wanted to share what I did. It is a wonderful feeling when you accomplish something like this that you can see on a regular basis. It also makes you appreciate it more.

So here are my before, during, and after shots. So far nothing has fallen down!

You did very well Racedoll :beers: The seams look nice and straight. The grout looks even too.

Congrats on a job well done :dthumb:

Im impressed, you did a very nice job on it.

My only words of wisdom for you is to keep up with keeping the grout sealed. I always get people coming into the Depot wondering why they cant get the stains off their grout and its almost always because they hadnt sealed it in a couple years, then I get to tell them that theyre in for a hell of a time getting it clean again.

Thanks. I tried to make it as straight as possible. I even re-did one side (before it set) because it wasn't quite perfect.

I have grout sealer. I just need to find 24 hours to put it on as that is how long it says it takes to cure.

For clarification -

I ripped the old stuff out.
Erik treaked the plumbing to install our new faucet. He also put up the cement board.
Then I did the rest - tiling, grouting, caulking, and will seal it.

It took forever! Do this and wait for it to dry. Do something else, wait. Work, wait... and so on. I'm SOOO happy it is done.

And dont forget to let the grout cure before you put the sealer on.

Smart move. Even if nobody else noticed it, your eyes would be drawn to that spot every time you went in the bathroom.

Grout I would think is cured. It has been like 2-3 weeks since I've done it. I can't go much longer without the sealer. I'll just have to tell Erik no showers for 24 hours +. I want to make sure it is nice and dry when I apply and then 24 hours to cure.

Yea it only takes about 2-3 days for grout to cure fully so youre definitely good.

Nice work. And btw, it's not too terribly expensive to change the color of your tub if you don't like the pink.

I don't mind the pink at all. Once I have a shower curtain up you don't notice from the outside. I would rather have it pink or any other color than to have a fiberglass, POS tub that would crack and fall apart after the first use.

No, he's proposing what I was going to propose... don't rip it out, change the color :)

Good job!

Yep. There are epoxies (I believe) that can be used to simply paint over the existing tub. There are companies that do it if you aren't comfortable doing it yourself. It's basically like painting your tub, works VERY well and isn't that expensive.

I've heard of this. At this point I'm not worried about the pink, so it will stay. If at a later time I decide to change, then I will investigate further.

Thanks. I didn't see any reason why I couldn't do it. Every one in my family though I was crazy for trying it, especially my Mom.
