I am starting over, so I guess I could. I lost track on the RR.

1. You are a nerd for keeping a spreadsheet like this.
2. I love it!!!!
3. I haven't a clue what my costs have been. I've put on an exhaust, integrated turn signals, and other bits and bobs but have never kept track.
4. I should start something like this!

I should keep track of stuff like this, but I honestly don't want to know how much I'm spending on repairs and upgrades. Most likely I've already spent as much in mods as I paid for the RC, and my list of things to do doesn't seem to be shrinking by much (but it is shrinking).

No keeping track. Could have paid for a new bike with what I've spent over 2 years. :bash: :D

Never done that. Could be useful on resale- that way you have a definite number and value, not something from out your ass.
With the things actually on the bike, I'm still below list for a 650R- even an '07. Once I get the two big ticket items on, then it will be close to the price of an '09. Still under the cost (list + fees + taxes, tags, and registration) for three years ago. I'd say that's pretty damn good. If I were to sell it- not happening- the miles I've put on would negate the value of any modifications anyway :whatwhat:

The numbers shocked me a little at first, but the more I think about it, the better it looks. The SV's original MSRP was $8,999. Had I paid full price, it would have totalled about $9,700 with Georgia sales tax and tags, with no modifications. I bought my new left-over SV and completed every intended modification for almost exactly the same price.
wow, the MSRP has gone up :tremble:
I think I paid 6k for mine right out of the crate in 2003.
I haven't bought a ton of stuff but with all the little things (bars, grips, bags, gear, etc) I know I've spent close to 7 or 8k total by now.
I bought my 05 SV650S for like just under 6k as well with tax/title/fees.

I keep track of every expense on my bikes, not just modifications. but I'm like that. plus its nice to have a log of what I've spent over time on the bike, and have it for if I sell it to give an idea what I've done.

Back when I had my old '91 GSX-R 750 about 9 years ago, I kept a running total. There came a point when it made me cry to look. I spent more than I ever should have on that bike and it pisses me off to this day.
I do have a mental running total for the Busa and TLR, and I'm sittin' pretty on both. I picked up the TLR for dirt cheap, so even with all the goodies I have on it, I have less in it than what I new one would have cost at the time.

Same here. I keep reciepts for all work pertaining to the bike, less fuel receipts. I should add them up.

I'm waiting for a string of dry days, so I can get it washed, waxed, and ready for photos.
I believe I could renovate my home for what you've spent on a motorcycle.
True. And I did and did. Then traded the bike in.

If you get it, send some this way.
Hey, how hard was that throttle cable to do?
Particle Man

Couldn't tell you, I'm still using my originals. Trusted others who said they were necessary (they aren't), so I ordered them before I had everything reassembled.
If you go with handlebars rather than just higher clip-ons, you will need longer cables, however. Preferably, you will buy mine.
How much you want for 'em? :D

Just to add to my list of mods: a complete fork rebuild/respring (x2) and a new front brake master cylinder and braided lines.

$20 and I'll cover shipping. Just verify they are the same parts that fit the 650 before you decide you want them.

I used to, but for what reason....
Wow...
I'd prefer not to know what I spend on anything. Motorcycles, sleds, golf, whatever. I dont even look at my bank acccount really, ive never 'balanced a checkbook' or made a budget, and ive surely never made a spreadsheet on what I spend.
Bike was 24k. Only thing i've added was brake/clutch levers, and bought a rear seat and floorboards. about 1000$. So about 25k?
I have no intention of doing a ton of mods to the Harley. All the mod money is going into go fast parts for my sled.
