View Full Version : Since when cagers start waving at each other?

I'm noticing a trend lately with cagers waving at each other, like Corvette drivers waving to other Corvette drivers and shit like that.
Isn't that some lame shit or what?
Some dweeb on a 325 shitbox with wing and chin spoiler tried to wave at me at a stop light. I was like, "Dude, you're on a Fast & Furious wannabe and I'm driving a fucking M6, what possibly is similar between you and me other than the stupid Roundel badges?"

In the remote parts of Texas and Arkansas we wave at any other cage we see. It is just polite as they may be the only vehicle you see for 30-40 minutes. Here in the Urban confines the only waves you get in a cage are one fingered?!

I have had people driving the same car as me wave. Never had someone with any other kind of car wave.
I was once driving a friend's Buick and passed another Buick and I waved. That old lady was confused. :D

Around here most bikers do it...Vette owners do it...boaters do it...just being friendly I guess.
I admit though...if they wave I'll wave back and not look down on them because their boat...bike...or Vette isn't as nice as mine. :idk:
So if I was driving an M6 and some dude in his 325 happened to wave...yep I'd acknowledge him and wave back...no biggie...the vehicle doesn't make the man.

Yep.
Boaters do it.
Bikers do it.
Jeep people waver to other Jeepers.
I can't imagine BMW-ers waving. Women drivers are bad enough already, they don't need to wave at each other.

The only Jeep drivers I could see doing it are Wrangler owners.........Everyone else is just a soccer mom or suburbanite.

Whats the difference between a bmw and a porcupine. A porcupine has pricks on the outside.

Corvette owners have been doing it for a long time, there is no lately about it. My dad is one and I know he has been doing it at least since 1978 when the 25th anny came out.
The car show guys have been doing it awhile too. The old car rallys they have in pigeon forge/gatlinburg around here have been doing it since as long as I can remember.

Mini owners wave at each other. In fact, on the Mini-owners forum they have a Nice tactic each month. Things like, paying other people's parking meters [which IS illegal in certain parts]... or letting people into traffic, or paying their toll for them, or - one month was to buy the order behind you in the drive through. Just random acts of kindness.
Whats the matter fnfalman? Being nice beneath you? :nee:

Yeah, the waving thing is not new, nor is it limited to Vettes, Jeeps and bikes.
Any car that is even remotely unique you will have wavers. I've had the index finger wave and the full on smiling and waving like a lunatic before.

What sort of moron that has enough money to buy a fancy car and then go get a wife? What's the point of having a fancy car if you can't go cruise for chicks?:?:

The only people in cars I ever saw wave to others of the same make in any numbers where owners of Saturn products in the 1990s.
Also, bikers waving at each other is kinda gay.

Well you guys have like 4 months riding over there, while we are year round. Since I commute by bike, I'm not waving to anyone while I commute, unless I'm in the canyons carvin it up.

I commute as well for parking reasons. It takes me 7 minutes. I still meet 4 to 5 bikes.
We have a very large motorcycle scene considering our climate and pop density.
I should take a pic of our bike nights. There are multiple spots on the same night. Each spot draws a couple hundred bikes.

When I was a jeeper I did it, wrangler owners only tho...
Never got waved at in the miata, lots of other things, but no miata fellowship...
Never get waved at in the stang either, tho people always wanna size me up and race. Guess they forget women typically have faster reflexes.
And as for waving on the bike, I'll always do it. We're all brothers and sisters on two, why not have the comraderie and fellowship? I dont see how thats remotely gay either...
I got honked at by a fellow diesel truck today, but the hubby says its not cuz of the truck.

You've got the wrong year for that, I always got waves from other classic mustangs when I had the '66
I try to always wave at other motorcycles regardless of what they're riding. It's funny to me that around here at least I sometimes won't get waves from the cruiser crowd even when I'm on the harley, I think it must be because I'm all geared up I'm not cool enough to get a wave.
Sportbikers pretty much always wave, regardless of what I'm riding. I try to do the same.

Most motorcyclist and bicyclist wave around here. If I'm walking or running people seem to wave. Sometimes I wave to them, but that is just because I'm saying "thank you for not hitting me".
The farmers wave to each other on the tractors, though I'm sure if you are on the wrong brand they might not. LOL.

Thanks for reinforcing the asshole BMW owner stereotype. :td: Dude was just trying to be nice, no need to get your panties in a wad about it. If another BMW owner waves to me, I'll just return the nice gesture w/o judging his/her ride.]
I've seen S2000, Porsche, and Miata owners wave to other owners. Just like motorcycles, I think it just goes w/ the territory for vehicles that generate a lot of passion from their owners.
Anyone else wave at a bike while driving their car?

Yes I almost broke my window one day. I forgot I was in my car. :lol If you want weird looks just do a low sport bike wave out of a truck.
I drove a lot of cars while owning my detail shop. I can't remember if I passed anyone in the Vettes I drove. The drive in the BMW was too short. I did get waved at in the Jeeps.
I also get waved at in the dump truck.
And you can't forget the nod to black people.

There is no French in me. And I don't know much Spanish. I 4 year old son has been teaching me how to count to 10 and colors in Spanish. At 3 he told me to hurry up in the van in Spanish.
