Bush sent me a tax rebate check, Obama gave me a tax cut. Personally I prefer the latter, since it doesn't require a ton of wasted postage.

Bush gave the tax cut, Obama is trying to extend it.

I am referring to this:

My take-home went up by $20 or so compared to last year, and I'm guessing it was because of that.

Direct deposit for the win.

I'm not saying it won't hold up for you, but wait until you file before you count that money. For some their withholding amount was adjusted too much which will result in them not having withheld enough to cover their approaching tax bill.

It was.

The problem is that the IRS restructured the withholding tables and employers are often withholding less than they should be.

That means that while your take home should have gone up by $10, it went up by $20 (made up numbers). When people filed their taxes and got a smaller than usual return (some even owed), they thought their taxes went up.

A pretty simple explanation is here: http://www.savingtoinvest.com/2009/0...ecks-1000.html

FTR, Bush cut your tax rate, THEN sent you a check.

Wait until your new healthcare rates kick in at the first of the year and see where your check stands.

Then your Democrat Obama and a majority of dem's just passed to extend the tax cuts. The Republicans failed by conceding to more bullshit pork projects tacked on and the Dem's failed at one of Obama's main campaign promises, to do away with the Bush tax cuts.

Don't be calling him "my" Obama. He's your problem. I've already got enough to worry about with the fake conservatives, that are in power up here.

I knew the perfect island. Little place called Krakatoa. Unfortunately it isn't there anymore and none of them were on it.

I'll make this simple. The money is THEIR money, not mine. So I'm advocating letting them have more of THEIR money. For some reason, the Democrats think they own it and thus can distribute it the way they see fit.

The problem isn't that the rich need to pay more, but rather the government needs to stop spending too much. Taxing the rich just exacerbates the bloated government issue and does nothing to solve the overspending.

Give 1 billion to a rich man and he will make 1000 jobs and a product America wants. Give 1 billion to the government and you'll employ 100 people for a War on Terror or a War on Drugs. The rich man will use the money...the government will waste it on crap. I don't know why you don't see this. It happens over and over and over and over....
