I had a 99 (first year of that model); at about 8,000 miles, the transmission ate itself. Replaced under warranty, but still a pain in the ass.

Oh for sure but I can tell Chevy horror stories all day! Or Yamaha horror stories for that matter! I don't like used but I also don't like payments so as long as the car doesn't cost me more than $6,000/year, approx. cost of payments on a new one, I'll be happy.

Not all mechanics are made equal you know... The car has 80,000 miles on it so I'm well beyond the teething issues you guys are talking about.

Yeah we did, we got a lemon. It was the car she always wanted and it was my nightmare. I was so happy when she agreed to trade it in for a new Accord. Now I don't have to do much of anything anymore because she has a reliable car.

Her's wasn't a teething issue, she bought it with 50k on it already.

How is that car working out for you Lon? I don't know anything about that particular year but I do know the new Fords are getting pretty damn reliable.

I wanted a stick until I drove one...The clutch travel is a dang foot! I thought I was back driving a 2 1/2 ton truck in the Army! I settled on the auto...to be honest, I'm not trying to go fast in this car. This is for cruising the beach or whatever.
