Ah, but if it's dark then you may shoot them in the back... which isn't good when the LEO's show up... One pump and EVERYONE turns in your direction... Much easier to make a case for "he was coming right at me."

Valid point.

You, maybe...

If I hear that sound, I tend to go the other direction.

Quickly.

I would agree I guess .. but many years ago in my wayward youth I recall the unmistakable sound of a 12 Ga pump cycling behind my right ear..I can tell you it is a fabulous stool softener

The sound of salt impacting an apple tree 5 feet away tends to do much the same thing

I like it, but nothing tells someone you mean business like the CHIK-CHACK sound that a pump-action makes.

Chambering a round with with a semi-auto makes enough noise.

A lot of people prefer the tactical reliability of pump action, but semi-autos are perfectly fine. You just have to find a load that works well with your gas action and stick with it.
For example, my Remington 1100 20 ga. never has cycled reliably with low brass loads, but high brass I can shoot all day without so much as a hiccup.

You and most other people... it worked well in a home invasion. All I had to do was pump and yell "Get the Fuck Out" and they left....

When I had one, mine was stored with a round chambered. You weren't hearing shit until I pulled the trigger. I'm not letting anyone know that I'm aware of them, or where I am.

Here's the situation

Wife's at home, alarm goes off,guy ( or maybe more then 1) bust thru door, Z loads 1 up, fires at guy

Is she gonna be in the right frame of mind to pump and shoot again?
Or is it easier to keep pulling the trigger

Both take action to load, 1 keeps on firing, 1 has to be pumped again to fire.

Troy, I fondled an STI guardian, that'll be my next gun and made in TX ta boot!
