Call me silly but I don't really consider Elvis or Johnny Cash guitar players. They could play guitar but that isn't really what they were known for, right? Does that make sense?

I thought this thread was about sound at first, but now that I know its about appearence I guess I would say Hendrix and Eddie Van Halen. I think more people know who Prince is but I don't think a lot of non-music people realize he's a guitarist before he's a singer.

Maybe I'm just too much of a music person to participate in this. :lol:

If this were about sound I would have said Santana and Joe Satriani.

Oh, come on, non-music people don't even know who Ingve IceCream (Malmstien) is, much less what he looks like. Especially since he turned into such a fat boy. Or at least he was a last time I saw him play.

naw yeah I know what ya mean... but elvis and cash played guitars in just about every one of their songs... :idk: especially in cash's case

Hendrix is probably the most recognizable by photo of any guitarist. You could throw up Elvis who is probably the most recognizable artist of all times, but he wasn't much of a guitarist.
