Do they even make a diesel GTI?

I looked at a GTI and went with the Volvo instead... personal preference.

No......and I don't think you'd want one, because of the torque curve that falls on its face after 3 or 4K. It just wouldn't suit a car like that, IMO.

Plus they'd probably ask $30K for it.

Sean is that your new race whip? Are those Comp T/A R1's?

Gas Man 10-04-2011 06:28 PM

I've drove a Jetta diesel and it was slower than dog shit!

Yeah, its got tons of torque, but if it can't rev then it's not getting a good quarter mile time

Street. It was gonna be a Spec E30 but I liked driving it on the street so much I painted it. Those are Dunlop Direzza Star Specs. I don't think anyone has run Comp T/As since the 90s redflip

Yeah, performance isn't too terrible (400hp/400tq LS2).

I like the sleeper look. I think I'm going to get the wing removed. It looks tarded.

It's a 101hp and 2400lbs. It's about what you expect from a car with those stats.

Fit/Finish is better than what you'd expect. Or better than what I expected but what I paid for this car I could have bought a very sweet used car.

It's a lounge convertible with NAV, leather, and everything else they offered.

http://farm7.staticflickr.com/6227/6...5ba96f68_b.jpg

It's sitting on Eibach prolines and sparco Assetto Gara in 17 inch. I plan on swaybars and better shocks when they become available. I'm not doing the exhaust/intake/ecm thing because I'd end up scoring about the same horsepower as a corolla.

Gas mileage could be better. It's the 6 speed auto. I average about 30 but using the eco-drive I've seen 35. I have a friend with the 5 speed manual and he sees 41mpg in mixed driving.

Had one as a rental. Pretty neat cars! I'm eyeing a Sorento myself (got almost 90k on the Optima now and planned on keeping it to at least 200k but I've needed more space more times than not the past few months - plus, the 2006.5 Optima is NOT rated for towing at all even though the 07 is identical and IS rated for towing small trailers.

Towing comes in handy with the snowmobile.

i like that green

thats a mid $25k ?

Z wants something sporty and convert. was thinking camaro SS conver but kinda trailerish and $30k+, Lexus IS (250/30) C , but even a used 250 is $30-35k, 350 = $35-40k USED, infinity G37c $35k+

Bought myself an sweet old truck. Started out looking for a Chevy, but ended up with a nice Ford.

https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-S...uckasaurus.JPG

1978 Ford F150 with the 400ci V8 and a long bed.

My timing could have been better, what with gas heading towards $4 a gallon, but this was what I was looking for at a really nice price.

Nice find. If it was 4x4, I'd say lift it and go w/a 351 Windsor.
Since it's not, drop it and keep the 400 or up to a 429 (if you can find one).
Build a solid C6 and you'll be golden.

The market is up, I was bored...came home with this one day. 2002 Saab Aero 5-spd wagon. 260hp, crazy torque, great brakes, handles...um did I mention it's got great torque! Got it STUPID cheap because it had a cracked tail light & fog light, the tailgate struts were done and the shocks were totally shot. $40 for a salvage tail light, $40 for a set of tailgate struts and a set of Koni FSDs and I have something that can carry many cases of wine back from the Santa Ynez Valley at crazy speeds. It was a blast passing 5-6 cars at a time in the mountain pass up from Santa Barbara. I got 24 mpg doing it too.

This thing is retarded. I look like an idiot driving it. Fuck you, I don't care. I think. Maybe.

Homeslice 02-28-2012 05:45 AM

So is that the turbo V6?

I was thinking about those cars a year ago, they look nice, but the magazines never compared well against BMWs/Audis etc.......But for the price you can get them for, it doesn't matter

Sean 02-28-2012 09:11 AM

The base engine is a small turbo 4 (185hp), the middle engine is a oddly, slightly boosted v6 (~200hp), and the fastest motor is a big turbo on the 4 again (250/260hp). That's what I got.

It doesn't handle as well as a 5-series. But it's more comfortable and costs about a third as much. I don't need a fast car, I have a race car to get my jollies in.

Thats a really nice wagon.
Too bad the company is gone for good.

Wonder if thats a Saab specific block or if its shared with other cars in the GM portfolio of that era.

I bought a 2011 Dodge Ram 1500 Quad Cab yesterday, with 14,000 miles, and traded in my 2003 Dodge Dakota, which put my cost under $20K. The truck is just a means of transporting my bike. So now I have no excuse for not coming to the east coast rally this spring.

2 inches lower than the base 500? Or 2 inches lower than the stock Abarth?

If the latter, damn

Scot 06-20-2012 11:48 AM

Base. The Abarth is only .5-.75 inches lower. This set up will only lower the Abarth 1.5 inches.

I can't go lower in the rear even with coilovers. You can pretty much set the front on the ground.

I have no plans to do that. My car actually ride pretty smoothly and isn't bad at all. I commute in it.

Here's a shot next to other 500s...

Thanks man! Im assuming you mean Shelby Daytonas and Shelby Chargers considering that they are totally different frames. I almost went with an SC this time since they are around 500 lbs lighter but they're getting hard to find, tiny bay space, and people want real money for em.

Not too surprising, lots of cars use bosch. Stock Turbo II injectors are rated 33 pph @ 55psi of fuel pressure.

I have a set of 52 pphs that will go in once this manifold is built and then I'll probably switch to dsm style and get stupid

Skipped on the demon, too much money for all the body work it would need. Having a ton of fun with the FWD anyway :P

Converting to a 92 style rear end. negligible weight gain (grams) and it might up aero since it sticks out a little more. looks better in my opinion and thats the important thing :P

waiting on some weld in bungs for the vacuum fittings and then my fabricator buddy is going to weld it up then we'll get her powdercoated and paint "bad mother fucker" on it :P

Also plunked down money for a seriously ported big valve head, same guy is going to hog out my intake manifold lower...AND I have a PnP 60mm throttle on the way for the bad mofo intake
Also need to hit the junkyard soon for a one piece gasket-TBI valve cover which i'll likely strip, polish, and send out for custom etching :D fun times

I'm all married up, have the kid vehicle.. I've convinced the wife that if I can get a street bike, the baby will be on the way.

I've told her since day one that I wanted two more bikes before I had a kid, and that's when I had the Buell. I bought the Kx, now I want a nice second hand litre bike. And I'm wearing her down... :lol

Picked up a little turbo car for the boy.

His school colors and mascot are the same as Clemson's
