I honestly think we would get more participation if people were reminded about it. I rarely think about it because it's kind of off the beaten path in the 'Current Info' section of the forum. I think it should be stickied somewhere with more traffic, or even in multiple places. Just a suggestion.

If there isn't enough participation, then kill it, but what about making it a "pic of the season"? That might raise the bar on quality and creativeness, while giving people more time to find something that they're happy to post.

not a bad idea... maybe even have a couple catagories so that everyone has a chance...

like say Best Track day photo, Best two up photo, Best WTF photo, Best holiday photo, Best off road photo, Best where am I photo (touring), Best Rally photo, ect...

I really like that idea, make it more oriented to a topic than just motorcyclin.

That sounds good. There are a lot of different things that are motorcycle related, that could be represented. Two or 3 categories per season might give some incentive to the people who don't ordinarily post. Also putting something in Off Topic, to remind people to vote, wouldn't be a bad idea.

exactly... and given the randomness of our motorcycling interests, I think it'll invite more interest

yeah... or possibly put in a pop up until they view the thread (if that's possible) like the PM pop up...

ok, officially voted change it

Papa_Complex 02-28-2011 01:30 PM

Removing the "must have a motorcycle in it" requirement and changing it to "must somehow be motorcycle related" might help too. That would cover your comment about a "best road photo." There are a lot of creative ways that you can shoot a road, and there's nothing wrong with a picture of nothing more than very twisty pavement.

Does it have must have a motorcycle? I always thought it was motorcycle related.

None of that is excluded now...if I understand your idea correctly.

You're right. It's always been motorcycle related, not strictly motorcycle. Someone won once with a baby in a helmet didn't they?

Papa_Complex 02-28-2011 01:47 PM

Some previous threads stated that a motorcycle had to be in the shot. Later ones said something like, "You know the rules." As long as rules are clearly stated, and a little broader than that, there shouldn't be an issue.
