Dyno Day Feeler

DSG in Norwood is setting up to be able to dyno bikes. I am in talks with them about setting up a bike dyno day.

Would anyone up in the northeast be interested in a dyno day if I set something up? This is just a feeler post right now, but I will get hard details if there is enough interest.:dthumb:

dReWpY 03-24-2008 12:51 PM

where?

scooby_doo 03-24-2008 01:22 PM

Norwood, Ma

mondos06cbr1000 03-24-2008 10:22 PM

how much is it for the runs? I'm not to sure if id run the bike but id like to go and watch

scooby_doo 03-24-2008 11:14 PM

I am going to estimate somewhere between $75-$90, but PLEASE dont quote me on that. Once i talk to DSG again i can nail down an exact price.:dthumb:

ceo012384 03-28-2008 10:47 AM

I'm interested. I'd like to get a reading for my bike. Should put about 110-115hp to the wheel I think.

$75 is a little steep though isn't it?

scooby_doo 03-29-2008 07:35 AM

not really.....thats about the going rate for dyno pulls. You get 3 pulls and printouts.

dReWpY 03-29-2008 01:00 PM

at our dealer in nashville it was 42 and change for three pulls and print outs

well we cant go to nashville, that would end up being more than the $75. I dont set the price, like i said before im just going by their "standard" rate that ive seen so far....it could be less.....it could be more....

If there is enough interest i will pursue it. Seems like everyone is still hiding under their blankets for the winter....

That's a great price for your area but most places in our area that have dynos are going out of business or selling their dynos. DSG is one of the best in MA/NH and they take their time.

Cutty72 03-31-2008 08:16 PM

Wish there was a dyno close to my area.

marko138 04-01-2008 10:50 AM

A local shop here does free dyno runs on it's open house day. They do two runs and a print out.

TaylorWWWGuy 04-08-2008 11:41 AM

*bump*

Any Massholes want in on this?

mondos06cbr1000 04-09-2008 12:12 PM

when is it again and do you have a set price?:idk:

Why wouldn't you run it? You gotta run it at least once.

Vettezilla (Impala Balko) 04-09-2008 03:53 PM

when is it... and will they do dyno tunes... and is it strictly limited to motorcycles.

scooby_doo 04-10-2008 08:33 AM

Price will be set when there is enough interest. I am not going to call the shop and say i have 2 bikes that want to dyno and try to set up a dyno day for just two bikes. When there is enough interest, I will call for a price.

Not sure if they can dyno tune a bike, but its a possibility.

Vettezilla, get your damn bike out of storage.....and check your PM's

FYI brother, you're not gonna drum up much interest without a price.

:dthumb: Cant get a price set in stone without a headcount. Its a ballpark figure, but its a starting point.

Vettezilla (Impala Balko) 04-10-2008 01:14 PM

The bike is ready to go... Lets do this... I also want to get the car on there too (honestly I am WAAAY more interested in base lining the Vette before the mods get put on it)

ceo012384 04-10-2008 11:35 PM

I'm interested and would like to see what I put out just for kicks, but wouldn't be down to lay out that kind of cash for it. I've heard of them going for a lot cheaper. If the price drops, I'd probably be in.

scooby_doo 04-10-2008 11:39 PM

feel free to put up the info to these places you have heard doing it for less and we will go there......

ceo012384 04-10-2008 11:53 PM

I don't mean around here necessarily. I've just heard of shops doing dyno days for 25 bucks for a few pulls and things like that.

Not saying the price is wrong for this area... just saying it wouldn't be worth it for me specifically unless the price dropped.

mondos06cbr1000 04-15-2008 01:20 PM

$ = ?

$ = (#of bikes * cost)-group discount if applicable

Vettezilla (Impala Balko) 04-19-2008 01:14 AM

when r we looking to do this so i can order the PCIII and get tuned up:dthumb:
by the way from what i hear 75-95 is a steal seeing as i was quoted from a different shop over 225 for a tune... so i am in... if this is the going rate let me know I may be able to get 5 other birds in on this if it will help the price let me know

I dont think the 75 or 95 bucks is gonna get you a tune. Probly just a few runs. You'd still have to pay for the tune.

Here they are charging $150 for a half tune (every 500 rpm) and $300 for a full tune (every 250 rpm).

scooby_doo 04-21-2008 04:06 PM

This is not a price for tuning. It is strictly a dyno price. If you know of a motorcycle shop that will accomodate us and do tunings i'll be more than happy to call them and set something up.

dReWpY 04-21-2008 05:04 PM

we just had a dyno day constest near us, 20 bucks a run with prizes for each catagory

will they do tunes for extra cake though... is there a way you can get info on prices... because I have buddies in both cars and bikes that want dynos and dyno tunes. Me being one of them.

There is a shop in VT doing an open house with Dyno runs projected to cost about 45 bucks:

wow your willing to ride all the way up to VT to save 30 bucks just to have it offset by fuel costs.

marko138 04-25-2008 08:46 AM

This thread makes me realize how great a local shop is here. Free dyno runs on open house day.

I'm not going. Although the ride up there would certainly be fun considering all of the twisty and unpoliced roads in vermont.

This is the northeast forum and a thread about a dyno day. It fits both categories so I thought I would post it up :idk:
