GOP is kicking ass...

That is all I'm going to say on the subject. redflip

Dave 11-02-2010 11:52 PM

No Senate but that was a pipedream anyway. Wonder how much spite legislation gets passed before the changeover

t-homo 11-03-2010 12:25 AM

i'll be interested to see how prop 19 did in the morning. just checked and it's down 55-45 or something like that but only 17% of precincts reporting.

101lifts2 11-03-2010 02:14 AM

Prop 19 isn't going to pass...its currently 60/40 against/for. The problem is every politician is against it (I guess it isn't a family thing).

It's getting higher and higher support each year though...

nhgunnut 11-03-2010 08:07 AM

My hope is that the GOP remembers that they are winning not because of their social policy but simply because between Obamacare and Obama incredibly irresponsible spending. GOP you got my Vote this time Stay out of our Bodies and Bedrooms

If only they can remember to keep that libertarian direction.

This is actually the way I like things with the exception of the senate. Heavily influenced republican policy is the only way it leaves congress, but the democrat president will veto anything too extremist. It forces them to be centrist or they can't do shit to us. I think it works better than democrat congress/republican president.

pauldun170 11-03-2010 09:53 AM

So I guess we have a few years of pointless "values" legislation being put up for vote

"HR ##XXX Keep America virgins pure act of 2011"
Summary - blah blah blah blah

(buried deep in the bill
----------------
Subsection 2394
Appropriate 90 Million for Heartland Museum
Appropriate 120 Million education grant to fund Creation Science textbooks
Mandate Creation be taught in biology and history

(President vetoes the bill)

All over Foxnews and Wallstreet Journal Republicans scream how Obama and his Obamacare want s to deflower all the pure Christian Virgins

2011 - 8 Special Committees are formed to investigate
Bailouts
"Obamacare"
Allegations of Obama not being a citizen
Allegations that Obama is a muslim
Allegations that Obama had a cigarette in a government building

The new guys on the hill will hold press conferences on how they are going to cut spending and fight obamacare (right before they up spending and do nothing)

I'm glad Pelosi is out though I'm not some idiot who paints her as some sort of demonic entity. She just did poor job of running things and got caught up in the us vs them (Its just like football or wrestling - we have to win win win!!) bullshit the Republicans love so much.

Unfortunately Boehner is an idiot. A genuine idiot.

z06boy 11-03-2010 10:16 AM

I can't stand the woman...period and yes she did a $hitty job.

I'm also not a registered Republican so I'm not dancing in the streets for them either but closer to that party than I am the Democrats.

With you Randy, Pelosi is a Parasite> I don't really want to see anyone party running the table but Unless Obama quotes Linden Johnson and does the "I will not Seek nor will I accept the Nomination of my party for President" I think President Gingrich or the like will be addressing a completely Republican Congress 2 years from now.

Porkchop 11-03-2010 06:43 PM

The Repubs had a clean sweep in Ohio I think....

I think the Senate going Republican and the House staying that way are pretty likely in 2012. There will be a lot more Democrat seats up for reelection in 2012 than there were this year. In 2004 (when the seats that were just voted for were last up) the Democrats won only 15 seats, or 16 after Specter flipped, out of 34 seats that were up. In 2006 though Democrats won 22 (24 if you count Independents) of 33 seats that were up. Even if the country is pretty evenly split in 2012 I don't see the Democrats winning Senate seats at a 2.5 to 1 margin.

The Presidency is a bit tougher though. While Obama's favorability ratings currently aren't great, those who still view him favorably will be out in force to vote for him in 2012. If the economy gets better in the next two years that will naturally help Obama as well. Two years is a whole lot of time.

The best thing about a split government is that they spend so much time fighting with each other, they don't get anything passed that isn't absolutely necessary. That means limited opportunities to fuck things up.

There is no one in the republican party right now that has reason to beat him yet. Sarah Palin is a joke.

That is important, but also nearly impossible to judge at this point. At similar intervals before the 92, 00, and 08 elections Clinton, Bush, and Obama were barely blips on anyone's radars. The "favorite" this far out has a habit of not winning their party's nomination.

Definitely helping...more of a joke than Palin.

nhgunnut 11-04-2010 08:51 AM

Palin is an empty suit at this point. But let be Honest it is not going to take Much to beat Obama, His ongoing record of failure is precisely why the Republicans have done as well as they have. One of Obama's biggest advantages when he ran for President was he had no real record. (that and I'm not Bush) Now he does and it is Dismal! Two Trillion spent in less than two years with no benefit. Betraying the Gay and Lesbian Population, by 2012 the cost of Health Care Insurance will have risen by at least 20% because of His "Reform".
and I think we can count on at least one investigation into whether His "Election Tampering" is impeachable.
My Obama in the Past two years has done more for the Republican Party than Lee Atwater could have ever dreamed of.

 Agreed

Humm...any truth to this...

H. R. 4646 Bill - 1% New Tax On All Bank Transactions

THIS INCLUDES THE DEPOSIT OF OUR SOCIAL SECURITY CHECKS,
WHICH THEY HAVE CUT, NO RAISE FOR 2011, JUST LIKE 2010.
THINK HOW MUCH THIS WILL COST EVERY TIME YOU USE
YOUR DEBIT OR BANK CARD !!!!!!!!!!

Everyone, Democrats, Republicans, Independents,& Tea party members,
all need to read and know what is in this bill. Read on for a short lesson
on what in store for us.

H. R. 4646

I have gone into THOMAS (Library of Congress) and printed out and read
all 15 pages of this bill which has been given the "Short Title"
of "Debt Free America Act."

It is the most socialistic thing I have ever read. Just think, if you deposit
$5,000.00 into your checking account or savings account the bank has to
take out 1% or $50.00 of that money and send it to Washington. Then, any
checks or cash you take out of your bank they will deduct 1% from what
is still in the bank and send it to Washington. Total put in the Bank
$5,000.00 $100.00 of that you give to Washington.

This bill, spells it out that everyone will pay the Government 1% of their
gross income on top of fed tax's

Page 9 states the House and Senate shall convene not later than November
23, 2010 and Page 11 states the vote on passage shall occur not later than
December 23, 2010.

The bill is HR-4646 introduced by US Rep Peter DeFazio D-Oregon and
US Senator Tom Harkin D-Iowa,Sponsor:Chaka Fattah D-PA.

It is now in committee and will probably not be brought out until after the Nov.
elections. Suggest that you pass this along and also to your state senator and
representative and US Congressman and Senators.

One percent transaction tax is proposed President Obama's finance team is
recommending a transaction tax. His plan is to sneak it in after the November
election to keep it under the radar. This is a 1% tax on all transactions at any
financial institution i. e. Banks, Credit Unions, etc.. Any deposit you make,
or move around within your account, i. e. transfer to, will have a 1% tax charged.

If your pay check or your social Security or whatever is direct deposit, 1% tax
charged.

If you hand carry a check in to deposit, 1% tax charged,

If you take cash in to deposit, 1% tax charged.

This is from the man who promised that if you make under $250,000 per year,
you will not see one penny of new tax. Keep your eyes and ears open, you will
be amazed at what you learn.

Some will say "aw it's just 1%..." remember once the tax is there they can raise it at will.

Introduced by Rep. Chaka Fattah and no co-sponsors (meaning a go nowhere piece of legislation created for political theater)

Debt Free America Act - States as purposes of this Act the raising of sufficient revenue from a fee on transactions to eliminate the national debt within seven years and the phasing out of the individual income tax. Amends the Internal Revenue Code to impose a 1% fee, offset by a corresponding nonrefundable income tax credit, on transactions that use a payment instrument, including any check, cash, credit card, transfer of stock, bonds, or other financial instrument. Defines "transaction" to include retail and wholesale sales, purchases of intermediate goods, and financial and intangible transactions. Establishes in the legislative branch the Bipartisan Task Force for Responsible Fiscal Action to review the fiscal imbalance of the federal government and make recommendations to improve such imbalance. Provides for expedited consideration by Congress of Task Force recommendations. Repeals after 2017 the individual income tax, refundable and nonrefundable personal tax credits, and the alternative minimum tax (AMT) on individuals. Directs the Secretary of the Treasury to: (1) prioritize the repayment of the national debt to protect the fiscal stability of the United States; and (2) study and report to Congress on the implementation of this Act.

H.R. XXXX Make English the National language

H.R. XXXXX Honor our cocks day

H.R. XXXX Restoring Americas Pride act

When you are bullshitting and audience into thinking you actually "do something" it helps to have something tangible to back it up.
Its like show cars.
They'll never hit the road or be built, but it draws people to your booth.
