Any bike but your own?

So which bike, if you had the chance to get a new one right now, would you choose?

I've been thinking of trading in my bike sometime in the next year or so ( to my wife's dismay I might add..LOL ) so I've been thinking of the endless choices that are out there and what's going to be right for me, my riding style, and the daily routes I normally take. All that not withstanding I also need to have the fun factor as well as being somewhat affordable. I haven't jumped ship to the chopper world unlike somebody on this forum  :D however I have been seriously considering this as my next bike. I really like the naked look plus it's got plenty of power, I can ride aggressively if I want or just hop on and hit the roads on a sunday afternoon.

I also like the Gixxer 750 a lot because I like the middleweight class of bikes that has usable realistic power for the experienced street rider...but this is my first choice.

I don't know how much they cost, but have you looked at the Ducati Monsters? Naked V-twin in three sizes, 695, 800, and 1000. Just a thought. Or perhaps the SVs?

Dave 07-22-2008 06:04 PM

any new bike that wasnt my own? well while im wishing hows about an aprilia rsv-4?
http://hellforleathermagazine.com/im...RSV_4_test.jpg

but more realistically, i have to admit im in love with the looks of the new zx-10 in diablo black

t-homo 07-22-2008 06:09 PM

What about like a Triumph Speed Triple?
http://www.triumph.co.uk/images/Spee..._main_2008.jpg

or 675 version
http://www.triumph.co.uk/images/Stre..._main_2008.jpg

Dave 07-22-2008 06:13 PM

apparently i missed the original spirit of this thread :P in that case how about an aprilia tuono? ultimate naked hooligan bike

How's about this, the Viper RC51?

BobTheBiker 07-22-2008 07:01 PM

Personally, I'd like to have the Z1000, or an 01 ZX9R. actually, I'll take one of each, plus a VFR800 for playing on touring trips.

I got the street bike I really want. Probably a KTM SM or a BMW 800GS

WildKat 07-22-2008 07:14 PM

I really like the Tuono a lot..a guy at a rally in Deals Gap last year had one and I was in heaven just sitting on it. It's bit more than I want to spend though but a used version might be a definite possibility.

I haven't checked out the speed triple as far as sitting on one or test riding it; I may have to make the trek to a triumph dealer in Harrisburg though.

I had the pleasure of riding of riding a super duke last year actually. It's a great looking ride and had plenty of power, definitely a bad ass but I didn't find it that comfortable.

Yea I've ridden a Superduke as well and I didn't like it much. If we're talking KTM,how about... Oh and just when did this become the naked bike lovers forum hmmmm.... Did everyone forget MV? I mean aren't we dreaming here?

WildKat 07-22-2008 08:27 PM

well ok then if we are dreaming, give me this, MV F4 1000 Senna, my ultimate gotta have it sportbike.

i love everything about that bike, but the exhaust...but i can look past that

Cutty72 07-22-2008 09:31 PM

I like the black frame/wheels and red accents... but the pods are going to be too much w/o the fairing to offset it. And the mirrors look kinda odd, my guess, they will still be worthless.

itgirl 07-22-2008 10:16 PM

if i were to buy a 3rd bike i'd want something unique, like the can-am spyder. even though it rides like shit, it'd be fun to own one.

I just love that Senna, the MV lineup has always been a favorite of mine but unfortunately probably a pipe dream unless I suddenly inherit a bunch of cash

I have a feeling that the pods will get reworked as the models develop.

I wish they looked more like a TNT's.

The new 1125CR looks like a B-King from the front.

Not too long ago, Motorcycle Consumer News tested two Nakeds, the Tuono against the Speed Triple. After all the hype on the Tuono, they expected it to trounce the Triple. They were surprised (as was I) that the Triple beat the Tuono in every category. And MCN does a very through test on the street, track, and strip.

PiZdETS 07-23-2008 12:38 AM

You can keep your mv augusta's, aprilia's, ducati desmosidici's, triumphs and benelli's.

I'll take this;

It's like straddling a Cadilac

WildKat 07-23-2008 06:53 AM

When Suzuki first introduced the B King I was definitely intrigued until I went to the dealer to sit on one and could barely get it off the kick stand. That thing is a beast for sure and definitely not a bike suited for someone who is under 6', or possibly 7

nhgunnut 07-23-2008 07:02 AM

For me the Ducati S4 R I love the clatter and the riding position. Not to mention a great chassis and for me the Duc's are like crack ride one...... and well you know the rest

Becca_007 07-23-2008 07:11 AM

I'd be after an R6. I've always liked the looks of 'em but don't think it would be anywhere near as comfortable as my Z1000. So maybe just for the short rides and dragstrip.

Gas Man 07-23-2008 08:21 AM

Well Mr Kano.... aka hubbs to HOTTY...

I won't drag ya all thru the mud on it by posting pics but I would love to get a street glide. Something with some jammin tunes, and hard bags to carry stuff. Whether it be a couple groceries, gear, clothes, cold beverages, whatever. A turn key, stock plus slip ons... simple.

I want the yellow one but I want to paint the tank and lower fairings yellow to match the bike.... I am telling you pictures of the new CBR do it no justice you have to see it in person to really enjoy it.

just a little bit of paint and a fender eliminator kit would drasticly improve the already good looks of this bike

Dave 07-23-2008 11:01 AM

ive seen quite a few in person and sat on a number of them. heck theres a guy around here who leans his so aggresively on the street that he had to shave down the pegs

I think they will. The scoops are actually, as you know, not that big in person. I expect the live appearance of the CR to be much better than the photos.

I like the "action shots":

Dnyce 07-23-2008 12:42 PM

scoops look small when the bikes movin (action shot), but they looked way huge on the 1125 i was checkin out last week. its just a different looking bike, the buell

fnfalman 07-23-2008 12:55 PM

We're not talking about "fantasy" bikes that we cannot afford, correct? But just anything that we can afford to buy if we can buy it right now?

Super Duke R. The hopped up "R" version is going to be the ultimate naked bike.

Why does Italian sportbikes have to cost so damn much !! Can't they take a lesson from the Japanese and make them more affordable !! I can just justify 12,000 for a top of the line sportbike more than I can justify 25-30K

can't forget about this baby to add to the stable when I win the powerball!! Benelli tornado Tre

I agree, not sure what it is, but buells always seem to look better in person than in pics.

Dave 07-23-2008 10:59 PM

i love the tornado as well, they show up on ebay every once in a while for reasonable rates

jalaan1 07-23-2008 11:25 PM

realistically, for me, would be the '08 GSX-r 750 or the Buell xb12 model.

i know, 2 different bikes. but they are at least in my grasp.

For me...

It would hands down be a Lucky Strike RGV 250 2-stroke, Or a Cagiva Mito 125 with a RZ 350 custom motor in it... By by buells!

Last resort of course would be an RS 250, no not the Cup bikes but a street version.

BobTheBiker 07-24-2008 11:32 PM

Ideally, I'd be VERY happy with an RGV500 street bike.

rideblue450 08-09-2008 01:25 PM

i would probably go with a CBR 600. close second after that would be a triumph 675

jtemple 08-11-2008 10:46 AM

If I could buy a brand new bike right now, I'd get the '08 Hayabusa. I don't care how much everyone hates them.

My second choice would be a ZX-14.

Rider 08-11-2008 10:56 AM

White 848.

And for pure hooliganism the Aprilia Dorsoduro 750

t-homo 08-14-2008 07:53 PM

Over200s hayabusa.

Actually, I would get a few bikes, all new. R6 or GSXR 750 completely track. Hayabusa for touring, 250R for commuting. I'm talking realistic bikes, otherwise the desmo would be in there.
