bike stands, what do ya'll prefer?
so i've always been a pitbull fan (guess we shouldnt have sold them when we sold the SV), but seen some T-rex one's that looked nice, and at ~$110 for the pair, alot more beef then handy stands. but the busa is a heavy bike so should i spend the $ or what do ya'll use?
|
everyone seems to like t-rex that have them, but pitbull are just so nice
I know I kept mine after I sold the CBARRR and intent on keeping them in case I get another sportbike. |
We've got Pitbulls. I've also heard other people insist that there are less expensive ones that are just as good, but we got a helluva deal on ours, and love em.
|
I love my T-Rex stands....
|
Before you buy a stand, see if someone has one that you can try first.
Alot of stands won't work with the Gen II bike because the taillight sticks out further than the rear tire, which will not allow the bike to get on the stands. I use stands from www.motrax.co.uk I got them from the local dealer for around $100 for the rear. I will take a pic when I get home. It looks like this one. http://www.motrax.co.uk/index.php?mo...uct&id_prd=292 |
I've got a Vortex rear stand. It was a solid price...and it's pretty sturdy. That being said, would love to get a PitBull.

http://www.pit-bull.com/Merchant2/me...de=rear_stands good pointer 'slice! |
I have the pit bulls for the buell and t Rex for the sv. Both are good, yes the pit bulls are a bit heavier, but not 3 times the price heavier. Had someone other than pit bull made an 1125r specific stand I prob would not have gotten them.
|
T-Rex here, and I like them. I used to have an issue with the rear stand's handle snagging on the rear mudflap reflector. Simple fix- removed the ugly rear mudflap reflector.
|
DO NOT use the T-rex's on the Busa!
I have a set of T-rex's and they are fine for what they are. I turned a few people into T-rex customers because they were looking for a bargain. That said, you get what you pay for: My front T-rex is the convertible one. I can't remove the front axle unless I lift from the lower triple. I have bent two of the pins and broken another one over the last two years. This is on a 675 in race trim. I'd imagine your Busa is a bit heavier. The rear stand is not a one piece unit like the Pit Bulls. It bolts together, so while you don't have to worry about the stand itself bending, the bolts can become loose and the threads become wallowed out. The adjustable pieces that actually touch the swing-arm have bent slightly. Again, much lighter bike. In short: big, heavy, pretty bike = spend the coin and get the Pit Bulls. |
^ thanks

Engine crane FTW :rockwoot:
When you're pulling the whole front end off a bike, accept no substitutes! |
Love my Pitbulls that I got used for a good deal but also owned a Vortex rearstand that I also liked alot.

The padded part that makes contact with the ground kept it from getting scratched up or scratching the floor and the built in axle holders was a bonus as well. |

Seriously, I have pitbull and Vortex stands and I find myself always using the vortex stand because of the removable handle and the axle holders. Of course, with your tail section situation, you might want to go with one armed PB...:idk: |

  Maybe that's why some go for T-Rex ? :lol |
I really wanted to get the Abba stands, but they are hard to find in Canada.

I got a pitbull rear stand for 75 bucks when I bought my bike from the previous owner. I love it. I wish I had the 1 handed one, and a lot of people like the t-rexs for the price. I'd say, get the t-rex stands if you have to have new, but if you can find a good deal on some pitbulls, go for that.
|
I have a Pitbull rear stand and a set of Handy Stands. Love the Pitbull. The Handy Stands do the job and were cheap but are no where near the same quality as the Pitbull.

That is a hell of a deal. Good find!

I got my Pitbull stand at a killer price and can't say that I regret the purchase. Besides, the gold bling matches the Ohlins.
