Go for it!!!!! :tremble:
My first car was a 74 (+/-) Peugeot 104 - 4 door with moon roof :rockwoot: Piece of shit caught fire while I was on the fast lane of the autobahn.... breaks were gone by the time I coasted to the emergency lane. I bumped the car into the side, grabbed some of my luggage and watched the tank explode (the car "jumped" about 2 feet high) I left on the firetruck - and had some beers with the volunteer firefighters till me ride picked me up. It looked like this (before the fire): http://www.altblech.at/media/gallery...-104-2-668.jpg |
Yea, I bought one for my wife a while back. Pretty reliable so far, even at top speed.

Why in the HELL would ANYONE willingly BUY a peugeot?!?!
I had a buddy in HS who had one (his dad had 3) and it was constantly breaking down |
They made some fast hatchbacks, but good luck on reliability and parts sourcing.
As for Volvo wagons, sure if you like driving something that looks like a refrigerator turned on its side. Fast? Sure, compared to what was available back then, but these days they aren't any faster than a V6 Camry. |
why buy some old POS french car?

Cars based on the 405 are still being built in the Middle East. To each their own but why a 405? |

Renault brought over the 5 in the form of the Le Car I mentioned above, but it sucked. They didn't import the 5 Turbo. |
Last I heard there was still one existing Peugeot dealership in the US. It's in N. New Jersey (Paramus?) and is there basically to service the cars for the French foreign delegation working at the UN and at the missions. That might be a place to go for parts.

My brother had a Renault Fuego. Great suspension. Everything else sucked. The elecrical system looked like it was designed by a high schooler with only a circuits 1 class under his belt. |
