Suomy Lids
So my kid won a new helmet, and the coupon lets him pick from the Vandal line.
Anybody have one, and how do you like it? He is currently using an HJC CL-15, and also uses a Scorpion Exo 400 on occasion (for reference or comparison). |

I've got one. I love it. Very light. Quick shield change, much faster than the Spec 1R. No fog shield. And it locks really well. Very comfortable. Also, it flows a ton of air, so it's noisy. If you close all the vents its much quieter but still flows a good bit of air.
I think he'll love it. You can see it in these pic: Attachment 5714 |
i lovemy suomy

Going in for a test fit this week. Curious to how the sizing may or may not be different.
He has it narrowed down to the Atlantic City, or the Pinup Girl. |
They tend to be on the round side (wider side to side).........kinda like Arai

I have a Suomy Vandal and I LOVE IT!!! It is light, not a ton of wind noise. Plus the graphics are top notch!

Suomy's Rock. Have a Spec1R Extreme. Light, comfortable, great ventilation but a little noisy. Graphics are great. Get compliments on my helmet all the time.

I have both the Pin-up and Italia Mat in the Vandal and the Hodgson Laguna in the Spec 1R. |
I have a Vandal - Bayliss Replica.
I preferred the Suomy over others because it fit me the best. All other XS's were too big for me. Even now that I've had mine for a couple years it is starting to be a little too loose. |

I have a Suomy Spec1R (very very similar in fit to the Vandel line)...Fits me the best of any lid and is quite light, but quite noisy. Just wear earplugs for the air noise. |

So after speaking wih the rep, he wants to send my kid a Spec 1R (Bellagio).
Is this an upgrade or no? |
If I'm not mistaken the Spec 1R is a higher line than the Vandal, but either way I think you are getting a nice helmet. I would take it!
|
Yeah, it's an upgrade, but the shield is somewhat of a pain in the ass to change on those.

seen the suomy blowout
http://www.twowheelfix.com/showthread.php?t=11077 the prices fro spec1s were $163 last week they went up this week. |

Lid came in while I was out of town. Paint / graphics are very nice. Just trying it on he says it is a bit tight. Wil post a pic or two later.
|
Mine was pretty tight when I first got it, but it has loosened up quite a bit since then. Had i gone a size bigger, it would be too big now.
If he can deal with it for a while, leave the size alone. Just my 2 cents. |
Tight how? If it's the cheek pads, no biggy. That's good. Helmet will stay put, and they eventually loosen up a bit. If it's in the forehead, have him wear it around the house to be sure he doesn't get a headache. If so, he may need a larger size.
