Apple...at it again.

Apple Inc. said Friday that it was "stunned" to find that its iPhones have for years been using a "totally wrong" formula to determine how many bars of signal strength they are getting.

http://www.kansas.com/2010/07/02/138...d-flaw-in.html

WTF..."stunned"....or embarrassed that they got caught?

I guess Steve Jobs and Bill Gates are more alike than people claim...both of them greedy, lying shit bags willing to fuck their customers without shame as long as it lines their own pockets....both of them ego-maniacs..that will never...EVER...admit that they are wrong...or guilty...even when caught red hand peddling shit products.

Dave 07-02-2010 10:25 AM

That more bars in more places ad suddenly makes sense

Mikey 07-02-2010 10:29 AM

Fuck Steve Jobs and everybody who looks like him.

Still, the iSheep have nobody to blame but themselves. Nothing Apple has ever produced has been the best on the market, from iPods, to computers, to phones, yet people pay a huge premium for them.

I'm not surprised, and fully expect the iTards to come to Apple's defence, again.

Full Throttle 07-02-2010 10:29 AM

Lol thats funny but i don't think its anything terribly bad. Possibly they knew but i doubt it. and ultimatly the IPhone is going to be better with bigger signal bars lol. I could care less i hate IPhone. Its to restricted without letting you realize it. I just dont like Apple. Screw I tunes

Man. Everybody is on Apple's nuts in this forum. It's kinda sad.

Maybe thats because they are a crappy company and rip off their consumers constantly.

DLIT 07-02-2010 10:53 AM

Ya. And everybody knows this. But the posts keep coming.

Of all the people who'd I thought would give a fuck, you'd be the last on the list...

I'm not a fan of Apple, but I don't have an irrational hatred for them either... They do what every company tries to do... make money. Their practices aren't shady IMHO... it's the consumers that suck their sweaty balls that are the problem.

I have no shame about loving my Ipod. Would I ever buy a Mac? No, I think they are ridiculously over-priced for what you get... now if I were some video editing guy or something, yeah maybe...

As for the iPhone... it was sort of a turd from day one... It did a lot of really cool shit and made it awful nifty, but it sucked balls in it's primary purpose... being a phone. Everybody knew that within a couple weeks after it's released, but people still bought them in droves and then whined about how theirs should have been somehow different. It's all about being cool, hip, and keeping up with the Jones'... and then whining when you get the same results as everyone else.

fasternyou929 07-02-2010 11:15 AM

The test that verifies the signal level shown on the phone (RSSI test) is actually done by Apple, AT&T, and is part of FCC compliance. The test criteria are pretty strict and well spelled-out, I guess it must be a pretty unique failure mode to get past all those hands and eyes.

You guys should try worrying about something that actually matters.

What, like which country won a soccer game?

If I pay hundreds of dollars for an electronic device, I'd like it to be giving me correct information. Not bullshit.

IMO Apple knew. And they gave a sweet deal to ATT to accept their phone even though its reception was sub-par.

I could not give a FUCK about soccer. I haven't seen 1 single seconds of a soccer game EVAR. And will continue that tradition until the day I DIE, my gay friend.

My GF had a Macbook and the battery went out just after the warranty went out. She got a Sony instead nad loves it. Best feature on a macbook is you can get Windows.

I am interested in the Ipod. I never considered it because I thought you had to buy Itunes music to use it and that you just couldn't download songs/torrents. My GF has one and it has a lot of cool features. One thing I thought was cool was the ticket scanner thing. As in you can buy an airline ticket and use your Ipod as a boarding pass thingy. Also I like how it has a lot of accessories.

Apple's main problem is everytime I walk into one of their stores (okay twice) all I can smell is basement nerd.

(see something positive about Apple was said)

I can't see boarding agents accepting a screen image of a boarding pass

I think actually when you get your boarding pass at the front (not sure of hte process being I've only flown a few times). But you pull up your ticket and this bar code thing appears on your screeen. Somoene scans it and you are set to go.

RACER X 07-02-2010 04:41 PM

yeah, Z has an app for her droid that replicates the bar codes for grocery stores and the likes, pretty cool app

Not sure if it's the same thing he's talking about, but I get the option to download a barcode boarding pass to my iphone, and I can (supposedly) scan it from the screen of my phone at security and at the gate. Haven't had the nerve to try it yet.

I've done it many times (only certain airports support it though). They just scan your phone screen.

You can check in to your flight from your phone and not bother with the ticket counter.

That's it. I remember even seeing something about it at I think O'Hare too.

Homeslice 07-02-2010 06:03 PM

So the agent takes their scanner and scans the image on your iPhone?

Never thought I'd see the day where they didn't require a printout.

anthonyk 07-02-2010 06:15 PM

Actually, you just put your phone face-down on their scanner in all the places I've seen it.

Yep. It works well unless your battery dies. Ask me how I know
